Blocked Nose on One Side

I have blocked nose on one side.
It happens worst during at night and in the morning.
I have tried nasal sprays (saltwater) and steroid but not very effective.
The only thing effective is decongestant (however it might make symptoms worst)
I done skin prick test and found out I am allergy to dust mite and cockroach.
I clean my room Everyday , recently even brought vacuum cleaner and allergy proof bedsheets. Even had a air humidifier at home.
Haven't done the nasal scoping yet.
As a result of this I had post nasal drip which makes me prone to throat infection.
Require more tips for no more blocked nose.

Are you talking about the fact that you normally only breath through one nostril? If so then it's quite common and can't really be "fixed". It's called "deviated septum", I have it too. Either you go for surgery IF it's serious, or just learn to live with it.

You can request for avamys. its presciption based, but it helped me with my blocked nose. I believe it lessens the production of mucus.

The med is quite ex, was referred to a specialist in NTFGH and costs $65 for a 1 month daily dose. was given 6 months so $400+ with nasal scoping & consultation ( offset partially by medisave)

If i had gotten it outside would have been much more ex as no subsidies.

I have long years history of block nose and sinus..especially when i am tired and not having enough rest. My house is clean and live on 10 high floor with clean air i assume? Occasionally i have this flareup of sinus and becomes infected. Thats the time i will see Doctor because of Pain on the face and non stop Green Muscus from nose. Its smelly and makes you tired whole day. Thats where doctor gave me a 2 weeks AntiBiotics. I tried Nasal drip..Nasal Spray..not really helps and cure. I need to find solution to cure. Went Specialists doctor. Got a Endoscope check. Doc explain that i have a sinus cavity.. blah blah. Went TCM..SPEND 3K for few 2 months or 3 months regular treatment..TCM doc advise sleep early 10pm 11pm..eat light non oily...seems my health improved although i dont really sleep that early. I have sleep insomnia sometimes.. my brain keeps running at night..next day tired..and prone to Sneezing and tearly eyes...whole day like flu symtoms..actually its sinus attack...and yes often gets block nose too..Then see again TCM..this time take chinese medicine..acupuncture..3 months..now take Doc advise more seriously because got another problem of insomnia after a afternoon ballgame..Doc tell me i better dont do strenous exercise or sports...but this one i cannot help because my passion. I rem i also have my right ears always jam with dirty and blackred color ear wax and sometimes block my hearing because of the wax. Good thing this are gone after i change my lifestyle to sleep 11pm plus(still not good)..but at least i can fall asleep most of time and wake up 6plus..i still take my black coffee 2X daily..but from advise of TCM..i take less dinner and every weekdays office i take teochew porride with veges and mince meat or fried eggs or squid etc..And over the year i under TCM i have trained myself to go Toilet pass motion every morning after brushing up..first few days nothing happen but after that everyday i do that. Guess my body clock working. And my feaces had turn from mostly sticky to now well form. BECAUSE of too much hest and wetness. Now i dont really eat fried food. That helps a lot i guess.

Ok in summary...my health had improved. Sleep early..sleep good...go toilet morning..eat porridge morning..No more block ear with dirty wax..no sinus unless i overexercised and lack of rest..not so fatigue during work..didnt crave so much for fried food..and from passing motions once every 2 days sometimes..now its regular daily morning sometimes twice a day which is good..and magically my Black heads are gone!
Hope it helps for those who are like me.

I agree that changing of lifestyle is the top most priority.

For Avamy's it is a form of nasal steroid, I have use it but the effect is not that significant. I got it for 30+ from local polyclinic. 65.90 for 120 dosage is just too expensive and it is about 50cent per spray.

For those urgent one, can try Nasal Decongestant, that one confirm work but will have side effect.

I don't have sinus or mucus issue, just blocked nose on one side. Haven't done any scoping yet.

Actually my concerns about work stress at night is main cause of sleepless nights - main

Nasal allergies is another cause - secondary

I need a proper treatment plan to treat my rhinthitis

I suspect my chronic sore throat is due to allergic rhinthitis

I was told to avoid food in sugar (encourage bacteria growth)

I have sinus very morning, it'll go off on its on. That very fateful day when haze started few yrs back, my "flu" was dragging for like 3-4mths..

Sometimes, one side block, sometimes both together, sometimes not block at all, but my voice is still quite low tone(鼻孔没诸塞,可是讲话还有鼻音). One of the symptoms is that throughout these months, i can feel the mucus at the back of my throat flowing down, and causing me to cough as well.(鼻涕倒流)
Went back to see doc and they didnt tell me anything other than taking medication, Been taking Telfast, antibiotic & cough syrup.

The last resort that doc prescribe was Avamy nasal spray.
I doesnt work like magic, it gradually improve, I use it for almost 6mths to realise that i was totally "cured" and no more sinus. Polyclinic sells $27.50 for 120sprays.
Yet no one tells me that it was Sinus infection.

I stopped using for about 2yrs,

Few days ago, the same symptoms reoccur, went to another clinic, the doc is very experience, he straight away tells me that it is sinus infection 鼻窦炎, and i realised that i wasnt totally cured from it.

Called up Dad, as i knew he went TCM nose specialist for his nose condition before, and he also bring my elder sister for treatment more than 2 decades ago, lost contact information for many years

Recently, he chance upon the same TCM specialist on newspaper. The TCM relocated i record the number from dad and went to the clinic and did the treatment.

Price is the same as 20yrs ago! that's amazing! the TCM doc even showed me some photos of the patients receiving the treatment and all recovered.

now keeping finger crossed. his website:
