Should i go root canal when pain already subsided?

last week went to my dentist due to gum inflammation and last molar feeling pain for 2 days. In the end I have to take naproxen to subside the pain. Dentist gave me a referral letter for root canal and said if pains comes back i should go for root canal.

I am wondering should i just go do the root canal instead of waiting for the pain to comes back? my last molar top part is like 1/4 already chipped off with filling in it.

if you need root canal treatment, it is better to get it done before it gets painful, esp for molars, the pain can be quite unbearable.

you might be feeling okay now due to the painkillers?
1/4 chipped off is quite a bit, you will need a crown eventually.

I guess what you said is correct. You made me remember during the first time my other molar is so painful that i have to rush to the endodontist immediately.

Better made an appointment with the endodontist again.
