SG Bus and Train Enthusiasts Thread

Hello all,

just learnt that sgforums closed on 1st Jun 2018. Was active there many years back in the bus forum but it was eons ago.

Since that forum has died, and I am thinking that a few people have migrated to HWZ from SGF, this might be a good opportunity to start the bus and train loving community here in HWZ.

If we have got enough support, we can petition to the mods to turn it into a sub-forum instead of a single thread

Fancy sharing your love for trains and buses here anyone?

That's why I decided to start it...

Hopefully more people will start coming.

I am not as into buses than I was, but I still do keep a lookout from time to time.

Just hoping to revive the love here.

I think we will have to wait some time.

Of course, you are welcome to share your collection here if you have.

For the trains part - we can have a redirect to the existing breakdown thread in EDMW.

To start things off, I think the Scania K230UB is the current beast in the bus fleet:

A little random, i'm not exactly a transport enthusiast in singapore, however my friend who is recently shared that the bus numbers we see are sort of correlated to bus route.

E.g. if you house busstop has 14,30,78,48 then he would tell you roughly where your busstop is located.

I forgot to ask him about it but I'm still extremely interested.

Fun question - anyone here knows how bus numbers are allocated according to factors such as bus routes etc? Care to share

Unfortunately, there's very little to be said about looking for patterns in bus routes. Might have been possible 10 years ago but it's a mess now.

This is the best that it can go, and there are still irregularities:
2 - 5x Mixed Trunk Services
6x - Long Haul, Cross Island Trunk Services
9x - Western District to Central Trunk
14x - South West to North Central
15x - West to North East/East
18x - West to South District
20x - Serangoon Feeders
22x - Ang Mo Kio Feeders
23x - 24x - Bishan Feeders
25x - Boon Lay/Jurong West Feeders
33x - Jurong East Feeders
50x, 51x - Express Services (Cross Island)
55x - 6xx - Premium Services
80x - 81x - Yishun Feeders
85x - 86x - Central Outgoing Trunk Services
86x - Express Services (Morning Peak to CBD only)
90x - 91x - Woodlands Feeders
92x - Kranji/North Western Trunk Services
94x - Bukit Batok Feeders
96x - North West - Central Corridor
99x - Bukit Batok Intra Town Services

xN - SBS Transit Nite Owl (CBD Outgoing)
NRx - SMRT NightRider (CBD Outgoing)

Did anybody see SBS 8360J, the bus that got involved in the serious accident in May 2018?

Never see for a long time already...
