(1) Mitsubishi Starmex: 2 ticks vs 5 ticks...

Was there a consensus on which to get, please?

(2) Would 2× System-2 for 4 bedrooms be better or should I get a System-4 with a bigger compressor?

heard 4 ticks about 60% efficiency while 5 ticks about 75%.

Meaning just pay the higher price upfront for a more efficient model?

I would have just plonked for the 5 ticks model...but came across discussion here about it being noisier and having poorer cooling capacity? :s11:

when you say ledge, i supposed you were talking about old hdb brackets.

http://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/aircon_safety

if new hdb, nothing much to worry about except your ledge floor area and service yard opened window space.

yes. definitely, if possible. there shouldnt be a problem if you are staying in new hdb design regarding noise.

Any experts here?
Getting a system 3 and system 2 for the house.
Shop recommends the system 2 for master room and living room. Then the system 3 for 2 room and living room.
Hence would like to find out if on 2 living room units using 2 compressors be the same cost as having them on the same 1 compressor system2?

If you meant energy running costs, 2 compressors will be higher by around 5-10%, not significant, if you cost in terms of dollars.

You may not get the saving as you pay very much higher out front. Saving may only realized 4 to 5 years later. But then may be is also time to worry break down, or even need to change to new.

if you could share the insulation they used for your piping. also, there are times junior work along with senior and they make mistakes. please watch them while they are installing.

Not sure if the insulation cos that was 6 yrs ago..
but the price quoted by Coolserve is based on 3/8" Armaflex insulation, copper pipe gauge 23 and 6mm PVC drainage piping by "exposed trunking".
I have totally no idea what that means.. :s13: any experts can advise if this is the best insulation? thank you in advance!

Hi all

i need aircon replacement.

My hdb flat currently using StarMex for 2 bedrooms and 1 no aircon install. So decided to install in all 3 rooms now.

Decided to try the 5 ticks SMILE series by Daikin which is all over Channel 8 advertisements.

my contractor recommend the following after site visits.

Outdoor unit: MKS65QVMG
Indoor units: 3x CTKS25QVM including master bedroom.

my question is, if i want to on all 3 aircon for 8 hrs a day, is the above configuration good enough? cooling enough?

fyi. the rooms in my hdb flat is much bigger then the nowaday new tiny hdb flat.

mks65qvmg 34k btu,

minimum btu for 3 ctks25qvmg 1.89 kw - 6448 btu, minimum power input 0.29kw,

rated btu 6kw - 20472 btu, rated power input 1.4kw.

maximum btu 8.93kw - 30469 btu, maximum power input 2.84kw. 3 x 10156 btu.

mitsubishi 5 tick mxy-4g38va 38k btu,

minimum btu for 3 msxy-fj10ve is 2.9kw - 9894 btu, minimum power input 0.78kw.

rated btu 7.5kw - 25590 btu, rated power input 1.8kw.

maximum btu 10kw - 34120 btu, maximum power input 3.4kw. 3 x 11373 btu.

mks90qvmg 43k btu,

minimum btu for 3 ctks35qvmg 2.59kw - 8837 btu, minimum power input 0.42kw

rated btu 8.05kw - 27466 btu, rated power input 2.19kw.

maximum btu 9.34kw - 33282 btu, maximum power input 3.75kw. 3 x 11077 btu.

compressor lowest speed and power consumption:

daikin mks65qvmg 1.71kw - 5834 btu, 290 watts per hour

mitsubishi mxy-4g38va 1.4kw 4776 btu, 430 watts per hour

daikin mks90qvmg 2.09kw - 7131 btu, 420 watts per hour

Choose a higher capacity compressor msy4a38 and fan coils with FJ for 5 ticks energy saving. So the living room is fitted with 24000 btu, Fj series doesn't have 26000 btu.

I am not aircon technician or seller. I am looking to install the aircons and have looked into Mitsubishi electric 4a38, 24000, 13000 each for my 2 bedrooms due to powerful sunlight from Feb to October on behind the flat and 9000 for small bedroom near corridor.

Recently I think I will buy Daikin smile series aircons mks90qvmg about 40000 btu, 2x9+13+24 combination. This combination doesn't allow double 13000 but I will check with air conditioning dealer for more information.

Thanks.
