Samsung AX40 for $60. Used. 2015 Feb manufacture.

Get in the Taobao 300 x 300 x 25mm HEPAs at just RMB 25, cut a bit can go liao.
No need to spend much. This bugger is a true workhorse as well in addition to the Sharp. Very silent and low in power consumption as well (actually it's just 19W as measured in high speed mode with the 300 x 300 x 25mm coz more resistance so it spins slower).

Really cannot go wrong with it.

If want AX40 purifier, the HEPA filter get from Taobao.

No longer worth to get the "original" from Qoo10 unlike last time. Too expensive liao. The new shipping fee.

Just personal opinion.

Do a search in this thread for all the info. It's a very popular item in this thread and very well discussed and posted.

Gen 2 is not sold in Singapore, all of it are export sets. The ones u see in Qoo10, warranty is by the retailer themselves.

I think for XM air purifier is cheaper than others and useful too, can be linked with an app. My gen 1 after using for almost a month, can see and feel the difference in air quality
What is the advantage of the green filter?

Actually the AX40 filters still ok what. These are still very high quality (in terms of consumer speak) H13 filters, though not originals.
More than enough for Singapore use.

$55 each shipped.

Can't seem to find the replacement AX40 filters in Taobao. Tried the link provided in this thread but it's no longer available.

DIY cut HEPA. You can fit into the Samsung AX40 (cavity 320x280mm) so (1) you'd need to cut (2) there is a hole, fill it with the plastic bubble wrapping that is packing the HEPA, roll it up, shove it in...use a ruler etc.

5-10 min job max.
Efficiency around 90-95%. It filters Indon haze, no worries, tested with laser particle counters in particle mode. Don't expect CADR to be same as originals, of coz. Change it out every 6 months, no issue.
There is a smell to the filter due to the media/hot glue use that goes away in 24-48hrs. Non toxic, no worries.....if really scared of such MIC stuff just leave a gap in your windows or "Burn it in" in free air first for a day or 2.

300 x 300 x 25.

RMB 29 now. Used to be RMB 25.

Won't leave a gap in the AX40, but more ex at RMB 38. Your choice.

Can choose to wrap up the sides with this...

Other than air purifier, changing of bedsheets/pillow case, HEPA vaccuming, another main cause for bad indoor air quality could be the aircon with its black mold, fungi growth. Or just harbouring dust + dust mite dropping allergens.

Can try cleaning it out with an aircon cleaner (aerosol spray application).
Cheap enough for trying..... (DIY shop ones are ex)
https://carousell.com/p/walch-aircon...rcon-89558911/

Those with regular upper respiratory infections, rhinitis, asthmatics can try to clean and disinfect your aircon fan coil unit regularly as well. It makes sense since it is in the active airflow route. At least 1 month once would be nice + HEPA filtration, changing of sheets.

Remember, office HVACs is not a good indication vs home AC, coz the AHUs generally have some form of filtration already, maybe a F8 filter? I have seen such AHUs before in my coy with the MA and techs cleaning out/changing.....but my office is a grade A big commercial building, though i think smaller ones are same as there are codes.
Anyway, many have measured indoor office vs outdoor air quality during haze season with laser particle counters, they confirm have decent filters (not home AP HEPA grade of coz, not even to the cheap Taobao HEPA filters filtration level).

For Singapore typical homes furnishings and setups with not much of carpets etc, we usually don't have large quantities of mold/fungi but the "wet" aircon + usually high relative humidity are the main culprits and can harbour a decent amount if you don't clean it out regularly.

I more or less cured my 30 years of chronic allergic rhinitis with aircon cleaning and disinfecting + HEPA air purifier. Years of GP and specialist visits and $$$ no use at all. Why use antihistamine medications/surgery to reduce symptoms when you really need to eliminate the root cause? After you eliminate the root cause by taking out the allergen, your body properly heals coz no often inflamed, over a long period it'd take a much higher threshold to trigger that next attack of allergic rhinitis.
But i don't want to give false promises, unfortunately for a few pax, that full recovery is not possible, it stays with you for life, though it may improve somewhat in the threshold triggering level. For me it has improved heaps.

When people say that they cannot stand the aircon cold air and low humidity (50% RH low humidity?), it could be partially true only. Coz I have no issue travelling to Taiwan, HK...initial touchdown at 20 deg C only no issue with humidity that could be even lower. It'd take winter places like Seoul, JP, Beijing to really trigger the dripping.

A bit of fear-mongering here, but trust me it's not good stuff if you have good amount of it.

I'm still on the AX40, Sharp, Mfresh, just nice air cleaning in my space. No extra room to use that extra AX40, else would have gotten it for just $60, take 60 mins to open and scrub it down real nice....enjoy liao.

Quite easy to open and clean as compared to my neighbour's sharp AP, bo bian had to open because a xiao qiang somehow got in, usually kept the top covered, no idea how it got in lol.
