which one will you choose? i can only afford this price range......

Philips air purifier 1000 series ac1215/30

or

Xiaomi AP

Xiaomi Gen 2S is not expensive on carousell.

Go for the Xiaomi gen 2 AP, ease and cheapness of replacement filters.
Gen 2 is probably a bit better in certain ways for our SG rooms as it has a smaller footprint etc.

If budget is tight, another option is picking up a relatively new second hand from carousell.

Some have scored good gems for not much money, eg I picked up a literally brand new (1 year) Samsung AX40 at just 80 dollars (SG retail $450, qoo10 get for S$270). Another pax i remember got it at $50 only. It's a 320m3/hr machine with good noise performance when on original samsung filters, TB filters at about $6 per piece turns it into an approx 240 m3/hr machine.
Use it at max speed of 240m3/hr, not that noisy.

Replacement filter just go Taobao pickup filters that more or less can fit, then plug up the gaps with bubble wrap or plastic wrapping.

Downside is more work on filters search (buy in bulk), second hand AP = opening it up to clean with rubbing alcohol or something to get rid of any smells or what (ABS wont be affected no issue). As good as new. The Samsung AX40 is a workhorse that will last many many years, so are Sharp APs.

Will work, trust me, we have done the measurements.

Xiaomi gen 2 AP
Samsung AX40
Sharp APs

Which one most quiet?

Is it all about same cleaning effectiveness?

Is Xiaomi gen 2 AP most value for money?

If too noisy I cannot sleep.

Thanks.

Samsung AX40 is the quietest considered that you set all the APs at the same airflow speed. Or rather, you set other APs to be at the same as the AX40.

AX40 would give you about 5-6 air change per hour for the MBR at high.

There are models in the Sharp lineup, ie the Sharp A80, which would give a little bit less noise for the same airflow. However, it is significantly more expensive and bigger than the AX40.

That said, if you are a very light sleeper, you'd still need to move the Samsung AX40 to be at least 2 metres away from your ears, preferably as far away as possible and out of the line-of-sight from your ears when you are sleeping on the bed. There are no air purifiers which are very silent while churning out ~ 250-300 m3/hr, except maybe for the big Taobao cleanroom modified units for home use. Very big stuff and filters are very big too, so the airflow past the filters and output is very slow, but still airflow m3/hr is high.

After reading some of the comments above stating that xiaomi need to set different region sg/china. May I ask what is the difference when selecting location? Because I wish to get a roborock and pair to the app together with xiaomi purifier max. Will there be any issue?

Yes I have read that even the Max version is quiet and has a very high filtration rate. I think either pro or max is not sold in sg right? But lazada seems to be cheap.

So I assume that location doesn't make any difference ay?

Thanks for your reply btw! 😁

I recently also just purchased the Roborock and Xiaomi Air Purifier 2S.
Both are set to SG regions. No need set to China.

I was surprised though because alot of posts stating that xiaomi air purifier cannot be registered to SG region, only can register to China region.

I checked with the seller on Qoo10 and he mentioned that the set i bought (those he selling) are international sets. That explains.
