Was sharing this with another member in a PM. Posting it here as well....

Other than haze, dust mite droppings, another common source is mold (from aircon FCU).

https://inspectapedia.com/indoor_air...efinitions.php

100% there is some stuff in your aircon FCU. If you are interested you can search the DIY aircon cleaning thread in EDMW, i posted a fair bit of info there.

But here's a picture of my FCU before i learnt to clean it (Always did some very light DIY cleaning/wiping/vacuuming myself and also every ~ 6 months call for $30 type general cleaning, useless one, and 2-3 years alkaline chemical cleaning is way too hardcore for the aluminum fins, they are maciam like drain cleaner kinda pH).

This is my aircon FCU drain pan, i took it out and ran 95% denatured alcohol on it and rubbed with a cloth. Took out about 98% of them.
Obviously, the $30 type of servicing is not very thorough and is mostly extrinsic/external.

Some allergists have told us that they can tell by the nature of a patient's complaint what they're probably allergic to and what size and types of particles are in the patient's environment. When inhaled in a breath of air, these comparatively large fungal spores are more likely to be trapped in a person's nose.

If a patient has chronic rhinitus, for example, they may be responding to large mold spores like Alternaria sp. which may be as big as 15 x 50u. If a patient has lower respiratory complaints (pulmonary or in the lungs) they might be responding to very small mold spores like some of those in the Aspergillus sp. or Penicillium sp. size range, which we often see in our lab can be down in to the 1u range in size. The photograph shows some Alternaria sp. mold spores which are pretty big.

Can get the filter from Sharp Service Centre (438B Alexandra Road) or Qoo10 (some local sellers have).

For me I'm currently using brandless hepa filters from taobao recommend in this thread, gotta scroll back and read. They are a generic size, don't fit exactly, so gotta DIY abit to fit. Think okay for general daily use as I'm using these in the rooms that are not bedrooms. Study/living room.
Anyway just to share, I came across this seller in Qoo10. The seller is selling filter that are usually hard to buy at 40-50% cheaper than retail price. Tried their hepa and carbon filter which I feel are of good quality. Seller name is Home Labz. Type Home Labz in Qoo10 and should be able to find their store.

Saw this seller in lazada and carousell too. All positive review from past buyer. Guess can save some money on filter replacement and replace them more often now.

Sharp drop to $79.90.
Just add 3M carbon filter from amazon.sg, works extra to clear smell.

I have bought all 3 before. The pic shown in previous posting is green.

In very brief:
Blue - original (the most basic)
Green - is enhanced type with additional charcoal (thicker than the blue and purple) to remove odor etc
Purple - Antibacterial version. Thickness similar to the blue except is in purple (antibacterial layer)

All can use but filter bottom better to have RFID sticker else purifier might prompt u pls use original filter. But still can use tho’. So if in doubt, check with seller or see reviews if there’s any RFID sticker on those filters.

Usually for bedroom I don’t use the green one. I only use for living hall. When you change to green ones, at the beginning there could be a very tint smell - probably due to the charcoal.

Bedroom I’m using either the stock blue ones (until I finishes them) or the purple.

Blue one should be fine. Next time when u need to change, can consider the purple one if u prefer. I don’t know how effective their antibacterial tho’.
