If you have the space, this is more worth it. At the sales price, you don't even need to think twice honestly. Audioengine is nothing compared to this.
cheaper than massdrop price ah?

No idea about massdrop price but I recently bought the mkii version of these (which according to the internet are very similar) and $300 is a very good price for these.

The speakers don't come with a one so yes you need a separate subwoofer.

If you are asking if a subwoofer is required to enjoy the sound from these then no unless you are a bass head.

any good ideas or suggestions for a set of active speakers, no real budget set, currently have the thonet and vander kubris, a little on the big side, for my table.

saw the KEF LSX last weekend at adelphi, quite like it, only thing i didn't like was that there wasn't a manual volume control (only app or remote), it was also a tad bright sounding, but very impressive otherwise.

mostly for tidal, and sometimes shows, watching from my pc with my monitor. listen to everything rock, pop, jazz, edm.

I shipped items of a similar weight recently. 14.5kg will be ~$138 for economical.

Btw do you prefer east/west?

I read all reviews all point to elac without a doubt 。 it’s front port and provided you have enough space

The reviewers bought Elac at $150 USD or $650 SGD?

Each country has their own cheaper speakers. Elacs are cheaper in USA. I'm not sure about Jamo, but it should be decently-priced here.

Asians should be looking at Mission and Wharfedale instead, and maybe also Quad.

ADD: Btw the link above has interesting views on JBL vs Elac. noaudiophile on the other hand...
(Granted the link above used Elac B6.2 but still... if we're compare same size, plus JBL has 6" version now too)

http://noaudiophile.com/Recommendations/

Full disclosure, I don't always agree with noaudiophile's ratings, but he makes good arguments and has good methodology.
