Beware: Redbean Android Tv Box

Thinking of buying a Redbean Android Box? I urge you to reconsider.

I am not a competitor, just a customer who had a really unfortunate bad experience with this company. I am posting this so that all my fellow singaporeans will not be cheated.

I was recommended by my good friend about this product and decide to go down and take a look. The salesperson seems very helpful and straight away recommended me their "Top" end model. they gave a very impressive presentation and treated you like their most valued customer.

They say that retail price is $230 ( they will quote you different pricing everytime u ask them) and I asked for a discount. I repeatedly asked if thats the best model in the shop and they say yes. And of course they gave.. And of course I bought from them.

I went back home to try out the set.. but to my surprised, it wasn't processing the 'high definition' videos properly and was very laggy.

I decide to go back to ask them to check if it is my set that was faulty. I could sense their hostile attitude the moment i told them that i have issue with their product.

Ask them to test it out but they seems rather reluctant and insisted that it is my internet speed (which is Fibre 1 gbps)that is causing the lag. So i tried it on their internet. Same issue surfaced. I was suspecting that it was an inherent problem in all of this model which i bought. and i was right. I tested on all the same model and all had the same issue.

Unconvinced, I went to test out their 'Mid End' model which is suppose to be cheaper and of lower quality than my set. To my surprised, it was of better quality. So I decided that i wouldnt mind taking a lost and change mid model if it is working to my satisfaction.

I asked for a exchanged to that mid end model. I was shocked with the salesman told me that i have to top up $40 for a lower end model.

I obviously wasn't please and explained that my friend who bought the same lower end model didnt paid such a high price and even offered to provide his receipt for his verification. But he insisted that I have to paid more.

I didnt want to argue, i just wanted to get this settled, so I said ok. Almost immediately, he went and took out a 'New' Set.

Then, I noticed that the set he took out was a older version of the model. All the logos and even model number was different from the display set which I was told was the latest model that came in.

And upon further inspection, I realised that it was a USED set.

I questioned him, but suddenly, all the salesperson in the shop came around me and insisted that i was given a brand new set. It was obvious, there were user marks and all the accessories in the box was opened and used. But they refuse to admit that was used. I was so mad that i took my old set and left.

No Matter how i argue, they will continue to cheat me, there is really not point in arguing.

Its a long story, but what i want to say to my fellow singaporean is that, please consider twice when you patronize this shop. I dont want to name the shop but do exercise extreme caution when you are buying a Redbean android box.

They employed salesman who will sell you garbage and make it sound like gold. I hope i will be the last one making the stupid mistake of buying from them.

The shop sells thousands of different accessories and many other brands of TV boxes...
What you are ranting about ... Is to condemn a particular brand which is not fair to the brand distributor.

For awareness, you should name the shop for consumers to avoid if there is malpractice involved, not the brand of the TV box.

You should also be aware that there is lemon law to protect consumers... Why not you approach CASE?
If you had bought your stuff from Sim Lim Square, you can also approach the management to lodge a complaint against the shop.

There is so many loophole in your story already by protecting the shop but only condemning a particular brand.... YOU really sound like a competitor trying to put down some other people's product.... sound very questionable to me ....

If you like to know, i dont mind sharing..

The shop is CH2 level 4 simlim square with a BIG Redbean as its logo.
I don't understand why you are so upset about my post.
Its ok if you find my story fake.

If every consumer who has a complain n post it here get suspected of being a competitor, then seriously, innocent shoppers wouldnt dare voice out online.

I believe many shopper like myself rely heavily on this forum as a platform to make an informed choice. And honestly, I am not as educated as you, I really don't know what lemon law is.. I only know about hwz forum being a good media to share our experience and avoid being cheated

All I want is to warn people who susceptible to unscrupulous sales tactics. As long as people are more cautions, I am happy..

Ultimately, consumer shd be the one who benefit and not unscrupulous salesman.

I just realized that I never mentioned anything about buying from Sim Lim.. And in your msg, u were very affirmative about me buying from Sim Lim and want me to name the shop. It makes me wonder who is the competitor here.

Seriously, I really doubt ur credibility n wonder your real intention to downplay my msg..

Anyways, I make my stand clear. Thank you

At least that's a lesson learnt. SLS nowadays is just China online shop selling China stuff but sell more expensive than China online shop and you can't even complain or eBay feedback or Paypal cancel.

$230 can buy Cherry Trail nettop already.

Nah... I'm not upset coz I'm not the one suffering....

But thank you for telling us the shop name... So that consumers will be aware to avoid that shop.... Let them feel the pinch for the loss of business..

BTW, please read my msg... I merely say "IF YOU HAD BOUGHT FROM Sim Lim Square...." God knows where you had bought your stuff from since you didn't specify in your first post.

Any other forumers who read my post will know what I mean with my choice of words, and one which you are trying to twist my words. Most of the people here already are aware of the tactics used by those unscrupulous shops in Sim Lim.... Go ahead and Google for the news...
I'm just reiterating what has been reported in the news and what recourse you can seek from CASE and from the Sim Lim management.

No hard feelings here... and apology for hurting your pride.

Cheers,
Whatever

Thanks for the clarification..

It makes me feel better now that I know that u are not trying to discredit me.

I just don't want people to think that I am a competitor trying to sabotage a brand or a shop. I hope that my feedback here will help consumers make a good decision when making a purchase.

It's just that sim Lim is just starting to regain some trust from consumers but unscrupulous salesman are always trying to damage the reputation by hard selling and resorting to bad sales practises.

Cheers

Hey TS,

I just googled CH2 and found there has been a few cases similar to yours but for other products.

Maybe you can check it out how those people resolve their issues.

For me, I will add them into my blacklist.

Beware of the tall china chinese guy on level 4.. He is the one who tried to exchange a older model and used set.

And he scolds his staff for spending too much time servicing customers who comes back to ask for assistance.

Why buy banana box when you can watch the various shows free of charge? I am a fan of PRC drama serials and use YouKu and Letv pc platforms to watch them. They also include the korean drama serials and taiwanese too.

Note the word technologies, industries and foods used by those lowly educated business owners. Their choice of words tell you that they are stupid and please don't buy my goods unless you are stupid too.
