Alright, I'll run it for a while and update if it goes into protect mode again.

Thanks for all your help again. Appreciate it!
So, the AVR has gone into protection mode again. I hadn't touched it since it turned on fine last night until this evening when I plugged in the speakers and the HDMI cables.

Protection count is thermal B: 69

Do consider a small USB fan as mentioned. Those laptop coolers make for a good-looking solution.

Overheating can causes heatsink contact to come loose and require reapplication of thermal paste. In order words, after it has overheated too many times, it becomes easier to overheat.

Did it go into protection only after you touched it?

I turned it on today without connecting any cables and it was fine. I then shut it off, connected all the speakers and HDMI cables, switched it on and it went into Protect mode.
If you omit the Hdmi cables will it go into protection?

Yes it does. Without anything connected except for the power cable it goes into protect mode

Yeah it's really frustrating.
I had saved up and bought this AVR in late 2018 for around $800. I'll most probably bring it in to Denon to take a look, hopefully they won't charge me a fortune to fix it.

Haven't had the time to go to Denon yet, they're only open Mon-Fri and I work weekdays.

You may want to read this, and DIY if you are handy with repairs..
