To be fair URA/HDB did let the pioneers of Punggol suffer for many years, how long after the first batch moved in then the MRT and shops came up, the Punggol now is already much better than 5-8 years ago le



Anyway the stench unlikely to affect PG people if they don't want to jog bah, my friend stays nearer to the water, didn't smell much there but yes, if jogging just along the waterway there's a smell, whether its bad is dependent on each person, I find it tolerable


Will it be cleaned up? I don't know, people have been using that for years and nothing has been done, so..........
But well, the thing is that if I'm not wrong, from PG to MRT or Waterway point, walking along the water is among the shortest and supposedly most enjoyable way.

Personally, I won't want to stay near there. It is too near the Sook Ching site during WWII.

Maybe it's just me being superstitious, but I will not want to stay near there.

Ex-cemetery areas are still ok. Massacre areas, no way.

Which also means that Punggol Digital district becomes a moot point in the purchase of PG.

That was also among my considerations not to go for the balloting.

Sentosa, Changi, Bishan, Bidahari have history .....

I see Malaysians /Japanese the neighbours of the cemeteries.

As I already said, cemeteries are ok. Usually is cemetery because Feng shui good.

Massacre sites are different.
There are only 2 main massacre sites in SG. One is Punggol.

The pioneer Punggol /Sengkang batches are rewarded with the cheapest flats of all.
But they needed to bear the inconvenience for a while.
Ask them how much they paid for the Punggol flats.

On a hot day, we, including dry drains, smell.
PUB /URA may one day make them free flow & never dry up.
In the same sense those who bought hdb in AMK or Tampines also got it cheaply but they didn't have to suffer leh

And the "a while" was about 5 years at least, amenities were so cui back then, do think punggol will be better liao tho, the watercovr district is being done nicely

Panel expert did not say every location will be atas. Panel expert only said every location will be liveable and close to MRT stations.

Don't expect punggol to be sentosa...

My Fernvale hdb was launched at the same time as the Punggol Waterfront. And if I remember, the launch price was cheaper.

I didn't suffer any bad smell. But gained more weight because of nice food at Jalan Kayu area, and 24h Mr Briyani prata at Seletar Mall.

And can choose to finish paying up the HDB anytime with enough to spare because HDB is cheap.

Just that it would be more comfy to have a living space larger than 110 sqm, so considering EC.

These are like Punggol early birds.
By the time some stop talking about the smelly drains /inconveniences, get ready to pay a lot more.

One asked about AMK & Tampines.
Of course some have the same 'bargains' in 1970s-1080s in these 2 too.

So what's the link with Punggol and Sumang?
