Hello folks,

Anyone here going to HK during the 1st week of Nov? Have checked that the hotel rates are super high so I was wondering if you guys know of any travel agencies that offer good package deals (airfare + accom)?

TIA! :)

the HK$50 octopus card is a one-day unlimited tourist card which allow u to travel on bus and mtr for one day.

You can also buy a HK $150 store value octopus card at the airport MTR customer svc counter (at the arrival hall after exiting from the custom check). You can use the octopus card to take citybus, kowloon bus, MTR, shop at 7-11 or even buy burger at Mcdonald with it.

Before you leave HK, you can return your store value card at any MTR customer svc station (airport one also can). They will refund you the remaining money after deducting HK$7 admin fees for each octopus card.

Btw, you can also top up your octopus card at min HK$50 at any mtr customer svc counter.

Regarding the octopus card, i read that it cost only HK$50 to travel the MTR for whole day BUT it is applicable to travel via KCR?

Where can we purchase the octopus card? At any MTR station?

hmm.. I am thinking of going to stay in a hotel with a casino one to have a taste of what its like.. not really a gambler... is it very expensive?

Fri/Sat rate is very xxx, so chose the weekday rate than it's cheaper. I book 2 nights with Holiday Inn for late Nov around HK560++. :s13:

thanks for that heads up. Airfares are still quite bearable but the hotel rates are super high.. its at least $200 for a night! And I'm talking abt 3 stars hotel..

Anyone know of any travel agencies that are offering good packages lately?

Tour package for F&Easy and tour group package is also a rip off from the consumer. Best is to DIY and buy air tickets + hotel

Or you can pm me a PM and i can able to book the hotel for you as i am in Hong Kong now.

The tourist value Octopus card ONLY VALID for unlimited MTR rides ONLY.

If u top up the Octopus card yourself, you can use it for MTR, KCR, BUS or even 7-11 to purchase your stuffs :)

If u r Singaporean u don't need visa but still need to fill up entry form similar to that of Sin to Mas which is @ immigration counter in the train station

KCR and MTR has different entries AFAIK
So u need to exit one to enter the other

Previously I purchase a 3-day tourist pass so I plan all trips for the 3 consecutive days with MTR then top up the card to use it on buses and KCR to ShenZhen and etc
