Strategy for hk-gz-shanghai trip?

Any tips like which airline to take, etc? I prefer night flights to save time. Also for China, there are no night hsrs, right?

I am planning to take china eastern back from Shanghai to Singapore as it seems to be cheapest at $320. But for initial arrival, what is good? It seems only cathay arrives in HK in early morning, right?

There are HSR sleepers on weekends. But you will miss out on the scenery.

How early do you want to arrive in HK? Scoot is early too? China Southern can put you in Guangzhou very early.

No idea why you want to buy one way from Shanghai to Singapore. Not a smart thing to do.

i want to arrive in hk ideally 5-7 am. I think only cathay has this arrival timing right? Scoot timings all seem to arrive around mid-morning earliest.

Reason why I'm eyeing 1 way to singapore is because I want to land in HK early to begin with, as it's a multi-city trip, and get there early. If I get china eastern, I think there's a transfer needed.

I found an alternative, maybe I can go early on Friday evening instead of a night flight. So I found a SIAplan, from Singapore landing in Hong Kong, and then departing from Shanghai to Singapore, at $425. Cheap for sia,but I was wondering if there are cheaper plans by other airlines?

For the hsr to Shanghai, for December is it usually in high demand? Should I book 1 month in advance?

You can monitor through the ticket sales portal and decide when will be the time to buy. If your plan is not going to change, just buy in advance.

There's protest in Shanghai meh? He said hsr to Shanghai but never mention from where.

It could be be Suzhou to Shanghai or Nanjing to Shanghai! Likely to be from Guangzhou to Shanghai if you've read his posts.
