If it helps, living in Landed property here, have a roof top antenna.

TV mobile is also using DVB-T format... confirm and chop can receive and most probably the 1st digital channel you will see without much adjustment to the antenna as the signal is the strongest among all digital channels and you can watch it pretty much anywhere out doors.

Digital 5,8,CNA is just your normal channel 5,8,CNA just in digital format.

HD 5 is the high definition version of channel 5 broadcast in 1080i. Most of the time the shows are upscale to 1080i format. Usually most "new" movies will be in true 1080i format.
thanks for the insight katana

starhub has a promotion 3 in 1 hubbing for maxonline express. https://secure.starhub.com/shop/jfn?...motionId=89569

The free rental of the settop box for 3 mths. Thereafter, can I continue to enjoy the SCV channels, HD5, Digital 5, etc but using IDTV instead paying rental for settop box?

More questions on receiving HD5

Hi all

I just bought a samsung LCD with iDTV and waiting for the delivery and would like to find out more on how to receive HD5.

Does that mean I cannot watch HD5 using the normally cable point used by the most TV?

Heard pp saying signal is very weak in the east for receiving HD5. Is this true?

Will any TV antenna work for receiving HD5 Signals, or I have to get certain special types of antenna?

Many thanks in advance for the enlightenment.

Hi petetherock,

Thanks for the feedback.
Checked through the discussion threads you recomemded, think most likely I will need an antenna.

Anyway, would you know any website links (e.g. IDA or sturbub) that provide information on which areas in Singapore have their SCV points enabled for antenna FTA reception?

Many thanks

Just got my idtv works. Perfect!

Here are the things you need to get dvb-t with HD5:
1. a iDTV with build in DVB-T tuner, ex my samsung series 4 plasma with dvb-t, or sharp D series LCD, or an external Draco box.

2. you need a simple digital antenna. It is only a stick of few inches long. The SCV cable point and HDB rooftop antenna may not work.

3. you need to face the antenna to the direction of Bukit Batok. Try to move it around, out of the window, to get good signal. You should be able to get TVMobil in most direction. HD5 required best/strong signal.

4. If you still can not get it, most like your area is not covered. Please wait till 2012 when Mediacorp fully launch digital broadcast for all channel, all area. Or, you can move your house to where there is digital signal. BTW, I stay in Bukit Panjang, you are always welcome.

5. You need to have a A/B switch to switch between analog (SCV point or rooftop) and digital antenna, as the channel U and Okto have no digital yet. The antenna mixer does not work here.

You will know your money well spend only when you get HD5 on your LCD or Plasma. Even the digital 5,8 & CNA are sharper than analog SCV point.

Thanks for sharing, digitalim.

May I know which A/B switch you used? How much and where you get it from?

TIA!
