iDTV (integrated DVB-T tuner)

New Samsung models comes with iDTV (integrated DVB-T tuner).

With the high definition DVB-Terrestrial tuner now conveniently built into the Series , the TV now can receive hi-definition terrestrial broadcast without a set top box, complicated wiring or extra power. Picture quality is also optimised with the integrated tuner.

Do we have this broadcast available in Singapore? Additional cost? or Can I see without using Starhub Settop box?

:o

kun1he2 24-04-2009 09:33 PM

Hmm... if cannot receive HD5, then it's really a useless feature in Singapore... :)

If this is true then this TV is capable of receiving HD5, Digital 5, 8, CNA and TV Mobile. :s12:

can, if you have the new idtv tuners

The currently avaliable DVB-T channels are Digital 5, Digital 8, Digital CNA, and HD5.

Do note that you will need an antenna to recieve these channels. Your cable point will not carry these channels unless you subcrive to paid tv.

forgot to add tv mobile as well.

revogsx 25-04-2009 11:48 PM

are you sure it can receive the TV mobile? the 2009 samsung models "B" seems to be using DVB-T standard, so it might not get the signal we see on SBS bus..

what is Digital 5 and HD5? ..sorry noob here..

old samsung models already come with iDTV, the 1st one was M8 which was on sale in Sg market 2yrs ago~

the infrastructure was in place even longer~ DVB-T broadcast started in 2001 when we hv TVmobile, follow by digital 5, 8 & CNA~ 2006 HDTV-trial began & HD5 was born on the following yr~ as DVB-T are transmitted thru air, u need an antenna to recv them, ur location & surrounding play apart on hw well u can recv the signal~ :s22:

TV mobile is also using DVB-T format... confirm and chop can receive and most probably the 1st digital channel you will see without much adjustment to the antenna as the signal is the strongest among all digital channels and you can watch it pretty much anywhere out doors.

Digital 5,8,CNA is just your normal channel 5,8,CNA just in digital format.

HD 5 is the high definition version of channel 5 broadcast in 1080i. Most of the time the shows are upscale to 1080i format. Usually most "new" movies will be in true 1080i format.

You may need to power your draco digital antenna with a 9v adaptor in order to properly receive HD5.

K_a_T_a_N_a 26-04-2009 04:16 PM

signal strength varies from places to places... try moving your antenna around to see if you can recieve any digital channel.

GegeV2 27-04-2009 12:58 AM
