Netflix LG 4K Smart TV

Hi all LG Smart TV owners,

Anyone managed to watch Netflix on their LG?

Fromm what i have gather on the web, LG TV are region lock meaning that even if use VPN/DNS will not be able to download the Netflix app for the TV.

Is this true? or is there any other way to do so?

TIA

Cheers

After much research here is what I did on LG UB850T.

Careful You might brick your TV, you are responsible for the actions you take here and all the disclaimer applies.

1. On my phone (Any Android phone with IR blaster, mine was Note 4) installed irplus. Open the app and choose the remote as LG Service menu. You need to search for LG and LG service menu in the App itself. Also keep the LG TV Remote handy.

Once the app is acting as a LG Service Menu remote, do the following.
2. Point your phone towards the TV and press EZADJUST
3. You are asked to enter codes, it is 0413. You can type it from the phone itself.
4. You will now see EZADJUST menu, scroll down to 'Area Settings' using the down arrows and press OK. Note down this number (4837 for Asia)
5. Change 4 digit code to 1793 for US.
6. Switch off and switch on the TV.
7. Go to settings menu and select Location, You will see Continent selected, Just select the country to USA.
Wait for few minutes. Now open the LG Store. You will see US related apps for download.
8. You choose whatever you need, NetFlix, Hulu Plus, Crackle, VuDu, Amazon etc...

Repeat steps 2 -8 for UK to download BBC etc. Code of EU is 3122

9. Once satisfied repeat 2 - 8 and change the code to 4837 and change the country to Singapore.

Also make sure you have VPN connection to US and UK before you do this. I have FreedomVPN from ViewQwest.

One more thing is with NetFlix you might need to change the plan to US$12/month to get 4k. I have not done it yet. If any one does please let us know.

My setup: LG UB850T, Samsung 3D Blu-Ray player, Minix 8-H Plus Android box, Laptop all connected to Yamaha receiver which is connected to 5.1 speaker system. An optical audio cable goes from TV to the Receiver. Digital antenna is connected to the TV for MediaCorp digital channels.

Hi bro for the clear instructions.

However, as i only need Netflix, i just go to Location in General Settings and choose Australia. Restart the TV and you will be in the AU store with the app available to download.

As Netflix is available in AU now. So when inside just download the app and revert the location back to Singapore.

The Netflix app once downloaded will be in your TV.

Just log into Netflix.

Netflix flip flop.

First it says not going to stop VPN users

Now, change terms of service to disconnect VPN users.

After the change to the ToS, Netflix going to geoblock content. So smaller library, different level of censorship and timing of releases.

Borders going up everywhere even in the digital world. lol.

Not too sure. But i think the app is just the means to get Netflix.

Do not depends on whether is from AU or US. just your log in account.

However, not too sure as i have not really explore more. But it recognizes my settings and profile based on US Netflix.

So from these i assumed is the same.

No bro. You change to au just to download the Netflix app. After that change back to Singapore.

For what it's worth, the stream on the Netflix app from LGTV appears less sharp than when I watch on the same TV via the Apple TV. Shows like breaking bad, daredevil, Spartacus look sharper on the Apple TV. No idea why this is happening when I'm on the same plan and same TV. I would think the native LG Netflix app would perform better.

are you talking about 1080p or UHD?

For UHD, you need to upgrade your existing plan to add UHD content.

For Netflix the clarify depends on your wifi signal strength. Assuming both ATV and your TV are connected the same ie wired or wireless.
