In my bed room and I have been watching a 32" LCD TV for 8 years until it went kaput 4 days ago.

My viewing is a striaght-line to my newly purchased 40" Full LED TV which is about 2.2m away and I'm fidning it very comfortable and enjoyable!

I intend to get a 60" 3D TV for my hall at viewing distance of around 2.9m. I checked the THX viewing distance calculator and it actually recommends 2.1m and maximum at 2.9m. Any bros here watching a 60" 3D TV in a 3-room flat at viewing distance of 2.9-3m? I will be mainly watching movies - Bluray/HD movies (1080p/720p) and the occasional 3D Bluray and DVDs. I don't expect SD content like TV programmes to look flawless on such a big screen but what about upscaled DVDs and 3D Blurays, especially on a passive 3D screen which has that visible horizontal lines syndrome. I have been watching a 42" HD-Ready (720p) screen at 2.9 m and want to know if a 60" 3D TV would be too big?

Should i get a 50" if my viewing is 2m?

I'm curious about this too. Any inputs? Tried using the calculator but quite confused with the numbers and different systems e.g. THX. Just for normal viewing. Though I would end up moving myself and the sofa when it comes to watching HD and 5.1.

2m is not an issue if you only watch Full HD.

If you watch FTA channels, you need to see the chart for SD distances..

My viewing distance is 2.5m, and from the calculation of 1.5 or 0.668, the optimum size for my TV is 65 inch. Is there a upper and lower limit for the size?

Is the ratio 3 for the lower limit and ratio of 1.5 for the upper limit?

65 inch looks very intimidating!! and destructive to the pocket.

hehe

Few year back I change from 37" TV to 46". Actually want a 55" but quite costly that time. My viewing distance is about 2.3m to 2.5m and 46" TV viewing look just ok but I feel 55" will be much better. I would recommend for those with 2.5m viewing distance if cannot afford to get 60"-65", at least get a 55".

used to seat about 2 m from a 100" screen FHD. Initially felt big. But after a while, you will get used to it.

2 meters? for me, maximum is 47 inch.
if the tv fills over 30% of your vision, it is bad.
don't even think of 55 or 58. lol. remember, it is a tv, not a cinema screen.
