Get Netgear Orbi, coverage entire house and speed is fast as well.. wastes no time setting up, connect and forget about it. ASUS is cheaper but wastes a lot of your time and your time is money, plus by now you'd feel shortchanged already.

I have learnt not to trust reviewers here, sometimes I have this feeling that reviews are smokescreen as a selling platform of the vendors.
Think it is unfair to say I feel shortchanged. In fact, I was skeptical of AiMesh even before I bought the set but wanted to give it a shot because existing AC68U could give me an extra node.

Lyra Trio mesh is actually very stable on its own. There could be issues with the AC68U using AiMesh on Lyra Trio now. Will try again on the next firmware update.

By the way, did thought about Orbi but it costs twice the price for a 3 piece set. Don't think a 2 piece set can cover my house area.

My ac88u connected with trio mesh is ok. Just that the auto change to the nearest mesh don't function well. Not seamless as well.

Changelog says seamless roaming does not work with this firmware due to software limitation under AiMesh mode... Maybe this is why disconnections occur?

ASUS Lyra Trio (MAP-AC1750) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45122
- First version with AiMesh support.
- Please refer to - for more detail setup steps.
- This is a big update version, strongly suggest to do factory reset after updating.
- Due to software limitation, Lyra Trio currently do not support seamless roaming under AiMesh mode to work with other AiMesh routers.

Please unzip the firmware file first then check the MD5 code.
MD5: 08dcfb030a5280f8bfd1d97314c7f9d1

Darn, no wonder. my previous aimesh setup is 2x AC88u and 1x AC68. I switched to 1xAC88u and Lyra Trio but my device just keep connecting to AC88u instead of the nearest node (lyra trio), DC keep happening.
Gush.. disappointed. I purposely buy trio so that i can do away with my old big asus devices.. trio is small and nice.

I see... Hopefully they can patch it next time. My hp also keep connecting to ac88u rather than the Lyra trio

Interesting, I didn't notice this on the other lyra model page

Yeah.. the Lyra and Lyra Mini does not have this stated in the changelog.

Guess we can only wait until the next release and hope that this gets addressed.

Setup as normal and switch to AP mode at final step

qn: thinking of getting the lyra trio for recontract. currently thinking of putting 1 node in each bed room since there is a direct ethernet line thru the walls. is it possible to put the 3rd node as a standalone wifi since the last spot does not have a ethernet point....

Yes. It is possible. It will just connect to the next nearest node.

Hey guys, I currently own a GT-AC5300 and was thinking of adding either the Lyra or Lyra Trio? Seeing the previous comments the Lyra Trio AiMesh with routers are not stable? How about the Lyra? Alternatively I could get a AC88u or AC86u and place it at the midpoint between the dead spot, would that be a better idea?

If you are just doing a 1 router + 1 node setup and want the best possible performance, I would go for AC5300 + AC88/AC86.

Unless you prefer the smaller size of the Lyra nodes due to aesthetics reasons.

Between Lyra and Lyra Trio, I would rate Lyra higher due to the dedicated 5ghz backhaul. However the tri-band Lyra is not availabe in single pack.
