Same experience, rock solid, my uptime close to 3 months. Rock solid.

AC88U 2.4g (sometime 5g) at time not stable. Have to reboot n that happen quite often. And wifi range not much difference from my previous AC66U. Heard AC86U is much better.

No wonder there are so many used AC88U on sales but can't find any for AC86U.

been using 86u since March this year.. range and connection is very stable and fast, no dead spots for my place even on 5ghz band.. I few months back I installed and setup this same router for my sister's place as well.. she lives on the 6th floor and our phones can already receive and connect to the 2.4ghz band when we are at the carpark.. can see the 5gh band as well but too weak to connect to it.

Got the 86U a month back after the Starhub router died in less than 6 months. The 2.4G and 5G are on separate SSID.
Despite the RangeBoost, signal is non existent in the master bedroom. The router is in the living room with zero line of sight to the master bedroom. And that room is the fartest away with a couple of walls blocking the signal.

Thinking of getting another 86u to set up aimesh using wireless backhaul. I donít have ethernet trunking to run wired connection as a backhaul.

My question is do u have to enable smart connect and use a single SSID to run aimesh, or both SSIDs can be kept separate and aimesh can still work?

Done. Dual 86u using wireless backhaul. No smart connect. Separate SSID on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. No more dead spot.

For asus, 86u is best range at the moment? Which is 2nd and 3rd best in terms of wifi range?
