Is your desktop using a good wireless AC adapter? Could be also due to walls or radio interference. Try updating your adapter drivers as well.

You can try to change channel cos default channels are usually congested and slows down speed. Use wifi analyser to see which channel is less crowded and switch to that channel.

Ps: I am using merlin firmware and I think is better than stock (official) firmware.
5ghz band shouldn't really be affected by channel congestion

Sent from Samsung SM-G965F using GAGT

Update: My laptop is old, so network card is wireless N and previous speedtest gives ard 100mbps or less. Now changed network card to wireless AC and speedtest gives 400+ mbps upload and download. Should be able to get more but since laptop is old (bought in 2012), cannot support high end wireless card.

Now I am a happy man.
Nice. The mesh network on dual RT86 is very stable so far.

Hope it remain like this for next year.

Those are DFS channels. I don't think any Asus router supports those WiFi channels.

Oh ya I did turn on those channels previously on my AC68U and it works wonder. Actually those ST router also has those channels wondering why Asus excludes that out.

I think Asus router in Singapore don't have DFS channels. Currently starhub is giving away (on recontract) a linsys router capable of choosing these channels. Otherwise you can try portal smart wifi (previously Lazada having one for one sale, but now no more liao).

If you happened to be near camp and things like that, then i think don't bother. Cos such channels are used by military and when your router detects their presences, they will auto switch to the common channels. These are prerequisite of such routers.

Thanks.

Ok noted. There is no DFS channels.

From the GUI, is there an option to change region? I saw the GUI other posted in 2016/2017 there is an option to do so.
