Try using a different cable from the ONT.

Hey, the new firmware .4180 is out and said they fixed ap interoperability issue so there is a chance that it might fix your issue.
Any positive feedback on this firmware version?
By the way, do I need to reset to factory setting and reconfigure again after update?
My current version is 380.3941

No need to do reset to factory settings. I updated 3 of my rt88u. So far okay. Solve the AP issue as stated. Just hopefully next update will improve the performance of the roaming assistant.

Glad that it helped you. For me, so far other than my whole house connection drop, then after the auto reboot that I have set it to run the next day and saw my 5ghz gets slower than 2.4ghz. Not sure if that is due to the tp-link 4226 (av600) adapter that I just went to get a new unit from the service center though. Anyone facing the same issue?

Another thing is I lost my 5ghz signal and even after a reboot it would get lost within a 5 mins. Wireless log didnt mention anything and the 5ghz light is on. The system log too did not mention anything, so i had to do a reset to correct everything back.

Factory reset more than 2times. 5ghz gone missing after few hrs.. Led on router still blinking. Login admin page n change 5ghz settings n apply then it will reappear.

I am using this router, no problems at all for me. What happened? Firmware or hardware issue?

Guessed so, cant be always the hardware failure unless asus gave us a refurbished set and could not be bothered.
