Hi, new home owner (bto) here. yesterday, a M1 technician came down to install ONT and set up the router (which I got from M1) - asus AC88U

2.4ghz was working initially. I did the auto firmware update thing through the asus client (192.168.1.1) on my phone and it was successfully updated to Version 3.0.0.4.384.20942.

A few hours later it stopped working - authentication error on 2.4ghz. then i tried to connect to 5ghz and it was successful. Ever since I have not been able to connect to the 2.4 ghz.

I have tried a couple of things so far:
1) restarted the router and ONT many times
2) factory reset using the button on the back of the router (using paper clip and holding for >10s)
3) factory reset using the asus client page: 192.168.1.1 > administration> restore to factory setting
4) I do not have a laptop with me so I did not try those that require manual download of latest firmware and manual update - but from what I have read so far, the success rate of this is also low

As of now, all 4 lights are on and white - power, 2.4ghz, 5ghz and wan (globe with a ring). i have absolutely no issues connecting to 5ghz. but when i try to connect to 2.4ghz (SSID is tynic) - i start to get all sorts of weird stuff (let the pictures do the talking):

Any advice on what I should do next? from reading this thread i realize there has been a lot of RMAs - RMAs are provided by ASUS Singapore right? do I call their support hotline even if my router came from M1?

thanks for reading

Power on router while holding wps button
Hold until power light blinking and release
Wait for reset to finish and re config router

If it didn't help then no choice need to RMA with service center.

that's the mistake here.
try re-flashing the firmware the traditional way. Download firmware to desktop and manually flash. And reset to factory settings after that.

If all the lights are still working, then it's still ok no need to RMA.

Is there a formal guide to manually flash the firmware? I found the link below, is it correct?
