Just updated fw. 5ghZ still unstable. Range still limited. My ont and router can only be set up right beside the door where all the electric box is. But 5ghz goes up n down when I'm in the room just beside my living room.

After so many upgrade Asus still not able to make this router 5ghz have longer range n be stable
You should have another port in your living room, right ? Why not set up the router there ?

The room nearest to my living room is where I place my computer and I wired it up via lan. So if set up my router in the living room, I'm not able to use the port in the room

Even I put it in the living room the issue is the router. This really is the worst Asue router in the making

You do know your router has LAN ports right ?

1) ONT - room with PC - 88 - PC
or
2) ONT - another router - room with PC, use the 88 in AP mode in the living room

I use lan for my living tv.
Set up 1 doesn't allow me to use lan for my tv
Set up 2, I have another 86 on mesh. So this 88 had to be main.

So my set up is ont to 88 to all ports. Then 86 in another room via mesh.

Hmm the coverage is ok but 5hgz signal is not stable. It's goes up n down. My 86 doesn't have this problem. I think alot of Bros here have this issue too

I see..though your problem is due coverage issue. With your setup, coverage is definitely sufficient. Maybe the 88 is faulty ?

could be due to interference

change to different freq channel and monitor

For those who changed from one ISP to Starhub before, you just connect the cable from Starhub ONT to the AC88 right?

Do you guys need to just change anything under AC88 router setting?

Or just plug in and use?

Which isp?
If Singtel with mio, remove profile and plug in.
If m1, MyRepublic, VQ just plug in

Just plug in but must restart ONT and router.

Of course you need to setup your WIFI password. If not you will be giving free internet to your neighbors

I already have wifi set up on AC88 for existing ISP.

I believe I do not need to adjust anything when I switch over to new ISP like Starhub right?

Which existing ISP? Read kashix’s answer again if you are using SingTel.

If you use SingTel ONT, then you need to remove the vlan profile.

If you use SingTel ONR and configured AC88U as an AP, you need to put it back to router mode.

If other ISP, just power off, plug in and power up.
