Did you try Merlin ? Was an ex-user. Very stable compared to stock FW. It is more focused on bug fixing than adding new features.
I will move over to Merlin once Asus throw their towel.
Scared that I will brick the router.

Asus RT-AC88U router has eight superfast Gigabit LAN ports, speedy Wi-Fi performance and lots of useful features. I like it!

Noticed tho bro - The router's USB 3.0 port is awkwardly placed, and when coupled with an external hard drive, its NAS performance is just average.

Hi,

My AC-88 gigabit LAN ports are capped at 300MB/s transfer rate. any solution to this? is it a hardware issue?

I loan from my friend a AC1200 to compare and it went to 800MB/s transfer rate.

Latest firmware can update? Mine still the one from a few years back that resolved the 5G issue.

Do you have the router admin access ? Sounds like bandwidth limited enabled to me...

Yes, flashing to Merlin is the same exact way to flash Asus own firmware.
