I have all those things enabled and my router and AP have been up for about 20 days with no problems. It really is odd, but so was my 5Ghz guest network problem. It will be interesting to see if the Telnet NVRAM reset helps.

Ho_kuku, I would completely understand if you wish to wash your hands of this whole sorry mess and move back to the AC68U, but the engineer in me could not help but delve deeper into the issue:

Erasing nvram via telnet does nothing to solve the wifi connected but no wan problem. Thats it - bye bye 87u....

Try Merlin 378.52_2. I been using it more than a week and not having any wireless drop issues.
But my router detected abnormal login below from Italy IP in recent days.

Is your router admin page visible from the WAN side?

But but .... bye bye to where ?.... next buyer will come after you .......:(

There are ppl who have no prob with 87u....I did the 1-1 exchange... so total tested 2 sets of 87u aldy.... maybe the spaceship is not for me.

Depends, may get back 68u for stablity... or risk it on ac3200.....

I used to encounter the intermittent signal lost on 5Ghz too, and even i upgraded the firmware.

Therefore, i went for 1 to 1 exchange. Till now, is it working fine! Bet i got a lemon set off the shelves!

ho_kuku isn't getting wifi signal loss, his LAN is working fine, he just can't access the internet/WAN.

Yes lah...my previous set...the 5Ghz led indicator light is totally off, and only the 2.4Ghz is on, and the rest of the LAN ports are still working fine.

It's a typo by renfred I think. There is a, relatively unimportant, 5134 beta, but the last stable release is 4950.

thanks buddy for the correction. yeah it was a typo. 5134 is also stable enough, provided you are ok with your DDNS name being changed when you restore from your previously saved settings..

@ASUS_SG,

JK, sounds like you should arrange to pick-up ho_kuku's router from your service centre (and Dellboy's if it's not already 'lost') and run some tests. There is someone on SNB with almost identical symptoms but he is losing WAN (but not LAN) connectivity on the 2.4Ghz band. Something weird is going on!

To me, the best working firmware is 2769. It got no connection issue with beamforming enabled.

4950 working perfectly here now, but I still don't understand why I had that br0 guest network problem with 2 separate routers despite 3 firmware upgrades, including 4950, or why it eventually went away! (Other than yet another reset!)

There is definitely something odd going on! Maybe it's something to do with having 2 chipsets from different vendors, I don't know! :s11::s11:
