Back with new CTF1 (CTF only) and CTF2 (CTF+FA) Results

CTF1 (CTF only) and (CTF+FA) just performing transferring of data via USB2.0

No much changes as CTF1 and CTF2 doesn't have any impact on USB performance. Do note that the cores activities are almost max on both and the RAM usage are high as transferring via USB is I/O intensive.

CTF1 (CTF Only)

Results are showing I'm getting only 700+Mbps down and 500+Mbps up on VQ 1Gbps symmetrical. This are done a couple of times to average out any erratic results.

CTF2 (CTF + FA)

Results are showing a big jump in download speed, I'm averaging 940+Mbps constantly while the upload is showing an upward of another 100+Mbps (600+Mbps)

Ok, with the results in, some might ask does it helps in your heavy usage scenarios? IMHO, yes why not? it's there for you to use.

Traffic needs to be CTF in order to achieve high speeds, if not just try running your daily stuff without CTF, with the addition of FA it's a bonus.

CTF + FA is only available in ASUS RT-AC87R/U SKU and it's factory default @ CTF + FA.

What advantages of bridging 2 ac68? Maybe get 1
From you if pros are there.
It's used in the scenarios like which laying cables are totally out due to various reasons.

So the client devices can be connected to the secondary router via wired and having better speeds instead via WiFi.

SimonLam can help to explain better

He is using the above configuration.

Parental Controls let you schedule times that a connected device is able to access the Internet. You can also restrict unwanted websites and apps.

Hey Guys, I'm thinking of getting a new router to replace my current singtel aztech router. There's a few question i have, should i get the rt-ac68u or rt-ac87u? I'm deciding within this two. Do both of these router have the same range? Cause my wifi signal is weak and i need a router which has a very wide coverage. Thanks!

Hey guys any advice?

Ac87u definitely has wider coverage as there are more antennas on it. However if you are comparing with aztech, ac68u will outperform aztech by many many aspects.

Of cos you should also read more on the specifications and decide if u need ac87u such a premium router if u want only a wide coverage.

just to put into perspective of coverage coming from many years of using Asus routers..with my own personal experience.

Ever since AC68U days, I can have FULL bar 5Ghz Wifi Strength on my iPhone and iPad in my master bedroom toilet, which is 3 walls and 2 doors away from the main router in living room TV area.

Don't ask me what I doing inside my toilet... LOL.

It's hard to just say which ASUS routers (AC68U or AC87U) or even the older models like AC66/N66 will be able to provide your premises guaranteed 100% WiFi 2.4GHz or 5GHz or even beyond that.

Everyone living environment is different, (i.e 3/4/5 room/EC/condo/landed with 2/3 storey) and size of the your house and obstructions (walls, 2.4GHz emitting devices - cordless phones, microwaves oven, baby monitors, competing 2.4GHz SSIDs from neighbors and so forth)

So rule of the thumb,

1). Placement of the router as centralised of the house as possible.

2). Non-overlapping 2.4GHz if possible if you have intend to use 40MHz bandwidth (channel 1/6/11), use WiFi analyzer to scan surroundings for the least populated 2.4GHz.

3). For 2.4GHz - 20MHz bandwidth only (recommended)

4) 2.4GHz has longer range over 5GHz (physics 101)

You can check out HWZ own guide too.
