Buy from Carousell brand new EA8100 or RT-AC2600.dumped by Starhub or M1 users, much better than the sub-S$50 routers from physical shops which are basically very bad.

Or buy TP-Link AX10 at around S$99 from Challenger.

This one has WAN port of 100Mbps, INHO should not even be sold in Singapore as the minimum consummer broadand plan is 500Mbps. No idea why Challenger is selling this.

This model canít support 1gbps.

Take ASUS RT-N56U at $39. That one supports gigabit connection.

look at WAN port.

if WAN port is 1gbps, means our 500mbps/1gbps plans can be used efficiently.

if WAN port is 100mbps, means our 500mbps/1gbps plan, can 100mbps from the fibre modem can reach our router.

thanks @xiaofan for explaining to me previously

No use, this is for wireless speed within your house. Once you go to the internet, the 100Mbps WAN port becomes the bottleneck.

Your 500Mbps internet bandwidth becomes 100Mbps if you buy the Archer C50 router. Your older RT-N56U is much better than the C50 as it has Gigabit WAN port and Gigabit LAN ports. It is usable for 500Mbps Fibre plan.

IMHO C50 should not even be sold in Singapore in the first place.

Wired yes because of the Gigabit WAN and LAN ports.

Wireless no since it only goes up to 300Mbps (2*2 N). You need at least AC750 grade wireless router for 500MHz plan (433Mbps 1*1 AC) and AC1200 grade wireless router for 1Gbps (867Mbps 2*2 AC).

Asus RT-N56U Spec
https://www.asus.com/sg/Networking/R...pecifications/

Data Rate
802.11a : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54 Mbps
802.11b : 1, 2, 5.5, 11 Mbps
802.11g : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54 Mbps
802.11n : up to 300 Mbps

It is better to have AC1200 grade wireless router for 500Mbps plan (867Mbps 2*2 AC theoretical max speed but 400-600Mbps in practical speed) and AX1500 or better grade wireless router for 1Gbps plan (1201Mbps theoretical max speed for 2*2 AX 80MHz channel but 800-900+Mbps in practical speed). Take note most of the mobile phones or laptops only come with 2*2 AC or AX WiFi adapter.

No, N56U max theorectical speed is 300Mbps, best you can get is 100Mbps+ only on wifi, on wire then 1Gbps (using 1 PC only as router is old design), if more than 4-5 devices using, I think less than 100Mbps per device.

Best is to get those BNIB from carousell, unfortunately due to covid-19, now EA8100 people are selling $80 for 1 unit, previously $40. Asus AC2600 people are selling $120+, previously $60.

Best is to get Asus AC1200G+, now $40 BNIB, previously $30, only $10 difference, and it can give you 200-400Mbps on AC wifi.

Happy hunting

Interestng. With the price range, better buy TP-Link AX10 AX1500 at S$99 or even S$89 on offer.
