Cat6a installation cost?

Recently undergoing full home reno and was thinking of running cat6a cables throughout the house (HDB) but id quoted $510~ and $170~ per data point for cat6a and cat6 cables respectively. I was wondering if anyone has ever ran cat6a cables through their homes and how much were you charged cos $510 seems absurd to me.

$510 per point ??? You may want to check several vendor advertised in carousell for additional quotes.

If you know your own electrician, it should be much cheaper than 170/pt - that's usually the aftermarket rate for adding points and shouldn't be the same if you're laying new wiring in the house during renovations. I ran my own points years ago, so it was just material cost (less than $200 - bought the Cat 6 cables, keystones, brackets and crimping tool from SLT) and one Saturday with my dad for 4 points in various parts of the flat.

$510 for a single point is a total rip-off. Unless perhaps it involves hacking and patching through multiple walls/floors, then it's altogether a different story.

I have checked it out.

Estimated hardware price diff between Cat 6 and Cat 6a is 1.5 to 2 times.
