Just an update from my Cable TV Lite free subscription -- Starhub finally contacted me and I was told there was no free option to migrate to Fibre TV.

Since I am not willing to pay, they are telling me that the service will stop soon and I do not need to do anything, no need to return the box as the box is too old.

It is good that you do not have any TV service now so if any service provider rolled out 4K TV contents you may change your mind and sign up for it at any time, immediately.
Today Mediacorp is doing the first NDP 4K trial on Toggle and soon it will be rolling out 4K TV contents so it is likely that Pay TV service provider may be working to roll out 4K TV contents too before consumer blame them. Many people have 4K TV set but Pay TV do not have 4K TV contents so it is time for Pay TV to work on it.

Haha that is for my flat which is rented out. I am still using SingTel TV at home but it is really under used now that the kids mainly use YouTube. So I may cancel it in the near future, depending on the offer.

As for 4k broadcast, I still think it will take time to gain a foothold in Singapore which is a small market for the service providers. I do not even have 4k TV at home.

Thanks, Eric for the useful recommendation.

I am currently on fiber internet and cable TV. Fiber internet is served by a router near the main door, so my only problem is actually the set top box in my bedroom.

Not exactly keen on doing the trunking even though starhub offered 1 free ethernet surface trunking service. I dun want the trunking to run across living room and also drilling of holes.

I will seriously consider the powerline adaptor for my cable TV. But i do have 2 spare routers at home, is it possible to used them to connect the set top box to the ONT output via wifi? I have never done this before, as in asking a router to connect to another router to do a point-to-point connection via wifi. I suspect it is not as simple as setting up an internet connection.
Rent out then do not need to care.

Since they say no need to return as the box is too old why care to return it?

Yes it is also an android TV box but some outside app like not so good. No full HD and mostly 720p which is not so clear so some details can not be seen.

Android TV buy from the one at Clementi Mall.

I bought my one from Clementi mall last year. The range of television channels from Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia is a lot.

Much more than what Starhub and Singtel are offering.

Although expensive. Around $250 to $300. But you will love it.
