Firmware update past midnight, fixed some performance consistency issues in throughput. Quite a fast fix.

WS5800 took maybe about 4 weeks to fix early performance issues around initial covid outbreak iirc

Hi guys, I stay in a

: 114m2 flat
: Currently on 2 x Asus AC68U meshed together.
: Wifi up/down speed measured on my Huawei Mate 20X (5GGHZ signal) is only 200+- Mbps (last night, the speed was only 60Mbps down and up).
: Subscribed to M1 1Gbps line
: Have ~18 devices connected to the network (13 of which are wirelessly connected)

Was contemplating to change to 2 x Huawei AX3 Pro mesh together (total cost will be ~$200 for the 2 routers)

Or upgrade my main router to Asus AX58U and mesh with my current Asus AC68U. Not sure if AX58U alone could cover the whole house (Cost would be $250 based on AX58U's carousel price).

If I want to achieve overall increase in wifi speed, what would you guys recommend? budget ~$250-300.

Do you have ax devices ? You won't see huge increase for non ax devices. Even ax devices that don't support 160mhz won't see dramatic difference.

The AX58U can be had for $235.

Wow this is the first time I’ve seen a mobile device hit 800Mbps through WiFi connection.

What sever did you connect to and how far are you from the router?

If you planning to invest in more AX devices over the next few years, you could consider getting an AX router now. Otherwise, you won't see any huge change until then.

Of course, if you are already in the market for a router and the price difference isn't big between AC vs AX routers, makes sense to just go an AX router.

Got any overheating issues?? As I'm intending to buy it and place it in a non Aircon environment.

AX3 Pro feels a tad warm to the touch, but not overly hot. No warmer than my Zendure 65W SuperPort S3 charger.

I had bought a router cooling fan thinking it might be necessary to cool the AX3 Pro (some reviewers did raise the heat issue), but now having used AX3 Pro for several days, I think the heat level is actually OK.

Chinese review of Q20 Pro:

If the PLC (power line communication) backhaul is what you like, you will be disappointed that it will limit to 200Mbps.

If you use Ethernet backhaul it is probably okay. This will require the use of base units. The base unit has three Ethernet ports.

The satellite has limited range and need the base unit to function. It does not support Ethernet backhaul. It has only one Ethernet port.

It is probably better to buy AX3 Pro + AX3 to form a Mesh.
Ethernet backhaul requires extensive cabling all over my home, not sure if that’s doable at this time. Ditto for Ethernet cabling for AX3 router as a base unit in the living room or master room.

Huawei Q2 Pro pack (1 base + 2 satellites): Satellite backhaul (plug-and-play) is really limited to 200Mbps only? No better than an extender?

Satellite can only do PLC backhaul, the speed from a few Chinese site shows around 200Mbps or lower.

Extender needs line of sight, PLC does not need.

Ref: 166 to 177Mbps in the following review
https://post.m.smzdm.com/p/aek8v003/

Even in Huawei's own site, it only shows good support of 200Mbps broadband (probably dare not to show higher plan) -- 201M to 204Mbps
https://consumer.huawei.com/cn/routers/q2-pro-2pack/

Recommendation from following site:
https://post.m.smzdm.com/p/aqndz82p/

Base + Satellite PLC backhaul: 200Mbps for the satellite

Base + Base Wireless backhaul : 300Mbps

Base + Base Ethernet back haul : 500Mbps
