Thanks for update. Not sure my old AC1900 has same professional setting? Currently not using it but keeping it as a spare.
You might want to try merlin firmware, may have region setting under wireless professional (i could be wrong as seldom use merlin).
A better way is to add 2 lines in cfe, and no need merlin. But if you have not mod 868l before, then better don't try.

repeater means must login to another wifi network right? im using that currently. not v convenient to login logout.
during wfh, also encountered many times of disconnection esp if i close door during meetings
Maybe your current router is getting old, you can try out 5ghz and 2.4ghz speedtest in master bedroom, near door, close door, and also at the place where you teleconference (open and close door). There should be a big difference at the door and where you teleconference. If not much difference, then its time for you to upgrade to ax router, as xiaofan has mentioned he got good wifi signal throughout the whole house.

Thanks but already read the Faq So was seeking confirmation that load balancing is the option for no disruption to vpn/zoom/team sessions but feedback is no, so any way to overcome that?
Short disruption may be difficult to avoid as the switching will take time.
But this should not be a real problem. If you can not tolerate such a drop, then you may have to consider subscription of business broadband which has 24/7 Technical Helpdesk and 99.95% Service Level Guarantee.

Triband mesh may get better speed than repeater, if he can get the main node and mesh node have line of sight. Say put the mesh node outside the master room if possible, and probably move the main router slightly so that it can see the mesh node.
It's not may, it's CONFIRM.
Been using a Netgear orbi triband mesh since when it first released around 2017 and never looked back.
In my parents 2700sqft 3500 storey house, 1 router and 1 extender on the second floor can blanket the whole house with typically 300-400mbps each floor and around 100mbps at its lowest.
Fast forward to 2020, I got my 1507sqft hdb a Netgear orbi triband wifi6 model, my vq 1gbps SpeedTest from my satellite I can get 900+mbps on my phone wifi, 2ms ping, 0ms jitter.
No way u can get that on an extended, no matter what brand u use.

Haha, of course you are right, but you are comparing high end triband with a lowly extender.
Rough price for two pack.
RBK50: S$445
RBK752: S$699
RBK852: S$1099

Correct. For repeater you need to have different SSID in general.
But one thing is common with repeater and mesh with wireless backhaul, the main router and the repeater or mesh node need to have good communication. That is why if you close the door you will get disconnection. If you get mesh and put the mesh node inside the room, when you close the door you may have similar issue.
So in a way, mesh with wireless backhaul has quite a major limitation on the placement of the mesh node, just like a repeater. Triband mesh does not sort out the placement issue, it only fixes the bandwidth issue of repeater and dual band mesh.
sigh LLST......

My wifi 6 Netgear orbi mesh, connected via LAN to an Intel nuc seed box seeding torrent nonstop at 15-30MB/sec, with 6 xiaomi cctv saving live footage into my NAS, and tons of connected smart devices etc..
I run SpeedTest on my phone thru wifi, still can get about 950-970mbps downstream maximizing my 1gbps connection already leh.. And 2ms latency..
So get wifi 6e for what ah? Unless our internet moves to 10gbps la

No point. I foresee the adoption of WiFi 6E will not be so fast. Device will start to appear this year. The main issue is the cost of router.
Wifi 6E router will need to be triband, 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz. You can see the only wifi 6E router announced is Asus GT-AXE11000 and it keeps being delayed.
As of now, even triband WiFi 6 routers are pretty expensive.
The only triband normal Asus WiFi 6 router (not geared toward mesh) is GT-AX11000. It is expensive. Then the mesh oriented RT-AX92U and Zenwifi XT8 are pretty expensive too.
King of the cheaper routers is TP-Link and only triband WiFi 6 router from TP-Link is Archer AX11000 which is again not cheap. There is no triband AX mesh routers from TP-Link yet.
Linksys Velop MX5300 is pretty expensive (S$788 a pair). But Linksys does offer MX4200 as the lower end triband AX Mesh -- still two units will not be cheap (not available in SG yet).
Same for Netgear. RAX200 is rated AX11000 and very expensive. Orbi RBK 852 is also very expensive. Cheapest is Orbi RBK752 AX4200 Mesh, but a pair still costs S$699.

If you already have a decent dual band WiFi 6 routers rated AX3000 or better, including cheap Xiaomi AX3600, Huawei AX3 Pro, Asus RT-AX58U, etc, I do not see the need to upgrade any time soon.
That being said, if Xiaomi comes out with cheap triband AXE11000 rated triband wifi 6E router at around RMB999 (S$200) then yes it will be a hit. They sure can do it. Xiaomi AX6000 dual band is only at RMB599 and can be easily upgraded to a triband WiFi 6E router by adding the 6GHz band without breaking the RMB999 cost.
So it all depends on how fast the Wifi 6E routers can go down in cost. I think it will accelerate in late year 2022. So the adoption rate of WiFi 6E will be faster than WiFi 6 since it is only an incremental update to the WiFi 6.

Dingknows preview of Asus GT-AXE11000, world's first Wifi 6E router. It was supposed to be available late year 2020 but got delayed.
https://dongknows.com/asus-rog-raptu...router-review/
Lowest end WiFi 6E router will probably rated AX3000.
2.4GHz: 574Mbps
5GHz: 1200Mbps
6GHz: 1200Mbps
A bit higher end will probably be AX4200.
2.4GHz: 574Mbps
5GHz: 1200Mbps
6GHz: 2400Mbps
And then AX5400.
2.4GHz: 574Mbps
5GHz: 2400Mbps
6GHz: 2400Mbps
***
For backward compatibility, tri-band is now a necessity. We need all of them to make sure a router will work with all existing clients. Though each band’s specs might vary, it’s safe to say all Wi-Fi 6E routers will have at least three bands (2.4GHz + 5GHz+ 6GHz).

Thanks for the in depth analysis, Xiaofan! And most importantly, you did not include any humble brag screenshots!

Depending on how many devices at home need it. If not yet on WiFi 6. Then I think best is wait.
