Routing to US for local SG ip

Hi, does anyone face the issue on Singtel fibre for adguard dns thats hosted in sg but routed to the US and back?!
176.103.130.130

M1 seems fine tho:
Pinging dns.adguard.com [176.103.130.130] with 32 bytes of data:
Ping statistics for 176.103.130.130:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 3ms, Maximum = 10ms, Average = 4ms

Singtel
--- 176.103.130.130 ping statistics ---
8 packets transmitted, 8 received, 0% packet loss, time 7177ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 248.068/303.806/327.639/29.856 ms

Whats your use case for ADGuard? If purely home use maybe can look into Pihole for selfhosted Adblocking DNS or maybe https://nextdns.io/ if you want a similar service to ADGuard.

Unfortunately nextdns doesnt hv servers in sg (nearest hk) and pihole requires a linux box 24/7 (i used to run adblocking dns on my custom fw router but swapped it out for a mikrotik with little ram)

im sure singtel can do better than this. adguard dns is just sitting in equinix..

You can consider getting a single board computer like a raspberry pi for pi-hole.

I used to have a orange pi 2e running pi-hole. With it using emmc flash storage it should last longer then the pi SD card.

Why care to use AdGuard? I usually use Ublock in my browser.

The rest of your network leh? Phone, tablet, Smart TV etc. etc.

Also PSA ublock IS NOT THE SAME AS ublock Origin

lol web browser adblock only work on the web browser. what about all the other apps and the operating system itself? they have a lot of ads and telemetry that needs blocking.

my raspberry pi is the 1st batch lol, abt 8years old until even the usb rusted off haha.. hopefully still works

nextdns gave me a US ip address 45.90.28.237, latency from ST is a normal 200ms, but somehow from my azure server in sg its only 72ms....

such difference in routing

Can try AWS and Google cloud, local IP in Singapore with low latency. Both my pihole and pivpn hosted there.

Sent from Google PIXEL 2 XL using GAGT

What is your monthly or yearly AWS/GCP costs for hosting pihole and pivpn?

Digitalocean has been reliable for years, USD$5 more than enough for Pihole + OpenVPN(TCP) 200~Mbps.
