Banks and telcos don't give a hoot about your feelings. They got too many cranky customers to please.

Just use your brain to pick which one is preferred. Know your expectations. Is cost your most critical consideration?

Both are on different network.
Fibre is n will be the only network here to stay.
Cable broadband is only available from Starhub, n they do have fibre broadband too.
Cable will end in after 2020 or so.

Starhub cable broadband supplied modem has only one ethernet port.
So you need an additional router in order to have wireless & more lan ports.
But you can buy the Router at the point you signed up at special price, $120 for DLink DIR-868L, if still available.
Anyway this is only 12 months contract with $50 activation fee.
But do take note that download is 210Mbps and upload 10Mbps or more as depend.

Beware that cable will eventually be phased out. My old SH cable contract expired and they revert to a super expensive plan. I believe is to force people to switch to fibre

This may not be the fault of ISP(s).
As more on gov want everyone (force) to take only fibre broadband.
Just like 2G mobile network is also force to "return" for gov to sell & profit on more Telco licence.
Both are already warn in advanced.
Even Singtel ADSL may have to follow to fibre network.

In many countries there are still using 2G, cable, 54k modem, etc.
When we move forward and many technicians are not fully trained, so customers point finger at them for any slight hiccup.
Even some are satisfied with older plans n not upgrade.
International connecting connection still way much slower than any fibre broadband plans.

Who to blame

I was told starhub stop selling DLink DIR-868. They now switch to Linksys EA7500 for the same price.

Yes.
Did a trial test on this new Linksys router, and it is very good.
Upon setup it will also include firmware update at the same time.

Refer to link for more info;
https://community.starhub.com/t5/Fib...-AH/m-p/144107

Some promotions come with free Linksys router.

Regards.
