For those who wish to have port 80 unblocked, please head over to this Starhub Community page and like the post by Qwerty by clicking on the green like button:

Unblocking of Port 80 on StarHub MaxOnline - StarHub Community - 93327

This will take less than 2 minutes! Please show your support to tell Starhub that the blocking of port 80 is not relevant anymore!

This is currently the most supported idea in the community page right now, and it is getting the attention of the higher-ups.

There is also a discussion page over here:

SUCCESS!!!

The petition has worked and Starhub has begun unblocking port 80 in some areas of Singapore. The Kallang area is fully unblocked now! Anyone else can verify if other areas are unblocked?

Thank you for all who voted in favor of this policy!

Let's share our experiences and implementations of home servers for any usage.

I suppose some people should realise this and yet not care...

But accessing any password restricted resource over an unencrypted HTTP port 80 is a very bad idea. Webcam access? Imagine, that webcam access is now exposed.

Can use port 80 to automatic forward to https if user did not key in the 's' for http.

That's true. Then why so hard up on port 80. This is (presumably) for own use. User himself should know to put https. In fact, it's likely to already be auto-completed by the browser even if it's not a bookmarked link! :)
