Apple & Bose are lifestyle brand-names for non-geeks and show-offs.....All fluff, over-priced with only basic features.
Yes..but they sell because they do the basics right.
And majority of the customer base for these products only wants something which does the basics right in a fast and intuitive way. That leaves them free to do their "normal work".

Even I am not an Apple fan or even own any apple product...but you cant deny the genius that is Steve Jobs. He knows what people(majority) want and he delivers with style.

I think it's a tool and it fulfils a usage. Initially before I watched the keynote presentation, I was too a bit letdown by the ipad. After watching it though, I hv become excited abt the endless possibilities for this tool. It's so content based that it all depends on the apps that creative developers can come up with, and the success of iBooks.

Being 1st generation of anything just ensures you hv tons of space to grow into, ipad is no exception. But once this door is opened, wow!!

My 2 cents, and counting down 90 days....

because apple wants to sell the adaptor lah....
It could be that...or they thought its unnecessary for majority and instead of building the cost of usb into the iPad itself, leave it to the interested customers to get it as an addon(and pay for it).

compare to a netbook, why would you want an iPad? any compelling reasons? Price is going to around the same. Specs wise its going to lose out on netbook.

how can the price be the same?

remember this is USD$499 for the 16gb version...

i LOL at this 16gb hdd size......

Steve jobs you can watch HD movies and on this thing...

all my HD movies are at least 7gb+......

so how many HD movies can i put on the most basic SKU? I can't even store them in an external HDD and watch it from there.

I LOL indeed.

i mean comparing to latest netbook with at least 10" LED screen that can play HD, not those early netbooks. I think those are selling at above $800 now.

I watched the keynote speech by Steve Jobs and he exaggerated the ipad with words beyond the ipod, iphone and the sky. It's far more basic than the iphone and it pales in comparison. So I have my doubts about Apple using Steve Jobs and Steve Jobs using superior words for an inferior product.
For the price, basicness and name, it has fallen short of being classic. I'm not impressed. Next!

WIFI dude, WIFI.

if u need to access internet anywhere, get the WIFI + 3G.

3G model use mimi SIM card, which is why iPAD its not available now for other countries.
Unfortunately, Singapore is not 100% WIFI covered. If we have 100% WIFI connectivity in Singapore, then the non 3G model will be a good consideration.
WIFI + 3G, no mini SIM card until the local telcos introduce them, which is like, dunno when.

i'm sure if you saw the quality different between LCD and OLED, you won't mind the price difference......and i thought apple always goes for 'quality' over 'price'?
