its more worthwhile to get it before ur warranty end, example last 0.5mth or 1mth before warranty end.
in case touch wood warranty void for unknown reason and the additional year is wasted.

and also if u sell it etc.

if you decided to continue using it then is always good to get one,and for your case you better get Apple care before sending it in because just in case you get a replacement only after your warranty expired then you don't have anymore option and given the fact that the replacement will only ready for your collection after a few days after sending it in and what if you can only collect the replacement say next monday ? warranty over already buy Apple care also no use already.

mine was a brandnew set because only less than a month i bought the screen got corupted, for your case you will get a refurbish set which means a "recycled" set but you can't tell because it is as good as new. and no,not your own set because Apple don't service iDevice they will do a replacement set rather then servicing it.

When u register AppleCare, it's not immediate, they need 1 to 2 working days. Until u receive email confirmation then will confirm your iPad have extended warranty

just a quick question, have you try to restore your iPad ? it might just be a simple fix rather than sending it in for service.

try resetting your network, second option would be to restore.. i think resetting network should fix your problem..
