HD moive size for ipad?

hi all
like to check with you, what is the size for 1 normal HD moive to be loaded into ipad?

it must be mp4? or what format?

Mine 330mb 1hour convert to iPad format become 1gb

16gb good enough a not? i only planning to load movies when i am going overseas, then watch it on the place or on the bus 1...

There are ways to convert... converting like what RitzyRitzRit did is a bad example.

A converted file should not be bigger than the source file for modern formats.

If you're going to do a full encode of your existing files, only use the same or lower res. I'll advise not to exceed 1024x768 since that is the res on the ipad. Any higher and it's just a waste of space and battery life.

If encoding videos found off the net, actually you can either just convert the audio format and leave the video intact to preserve quality of video and reduce time needed to encode. You could also try using oplayer to play the videos.

The quality is good enough when I convert them to 720x576, Bitrate 2000k with a FPS of 29.97.

File size is around 1.6 - 2GB for a 2 hour movie.

I take it u guys r using handbrake to convert ur movies? I'm still looking around for more convertors to compare.
