don't see the point of resisting, just buy when local launch definitely not buying at HOT prices now

do we really need such questions over and over again?

the basic answers would be

1) Yes - because I need the speed , face time etc
2) Yes - because I love better and new gadget
3) Yes - I am rich
3) No - I don't need all those new feature and specs upgrade
4) No - I just bought iPad 1
5) No - iPad 1 still works great for me
6) etc

so in the end... my question to u, why do u ask such question?

1) if u need it, just buy
2) if u need better speed, just buy
3) if u need the new feature (camera) , just buy
4) if u got the money, just buy

else.. don't buy.

Not a apple fan but the iPod and the ipad has a very relevant place for me in my work and for other personal application. Will upgrade ONLY when it come to Singapore. Life will still go on without one or have to wait alittle longer. And I see lots of that here in the forum and outside in public. It has been a very useful tool and really that is all that it is... A TOOL for me. I own a HTC HD2 and serve me well along side my present iPad. I don't really overlap the functionality. They both have their strengths and weakeness. But I do find the ipad 1 could do with a bigger power improvement. I own a Nikon D300 and my HTC takes pretty damn good shots. For me, the Ipad 2's camera is a joke but they are not important to me. And if you need to use it for certain application and speed and the fact that like any tech maker who "force" you to play their upgrade game due to their not supporting old application, finally improve processing power ( which they could have done so with ipad but did not by not using a INTEL chip but their own) or functionalitys.. well you have to decide how much you want to be suckered into the game. Apple is just as good at playing the sucker game (if not better) with so many fanboi and they STILL have not learnt the lesson. Oh well..it is your money. Do what you want with it. I just need more power and in some way their abilities to function more apps that for some reason the older one does not. If not for these, I am happy with the iPad 1 which I am still keeping.

Personally... money does not buy you self esteem and your self worth. Those are things you need to work on to make that happen in you. You can't solve it with money even if you are silly enough to pay scalpers a huge amount just to be first to get it. Waiting a few months for it to come to Singapore and buy one is NOT hard and you will not die for the embrassement of not having one earlier.

BUt hey!... that is just me.

Upgrade: No because I am looking for the Retina Display feature.
Buy iPad 2: Yes, but will wait for the release here in SG. Need an additional one that's why.

pointless for me, even more pointless for devs, coz it's the same resolution. for them, only diff is speed of the processor, in which iPad 1 can serve as the "lowest specs" tablet to dev against

myself, i also dun intend to upgrade chiefly bcos of the non-retina display ...
instead will hold out for iphone5 (last quarter of the year ?) ...
and then perhaps the iPad3 if upgrades are significant enuff ... esp battery life, screen res ...

so judging on poll ... looks like most current users will hold out on the upgrade

i for one cant wait for the iPad2 to be launched here ...
cos that will kickstart a drop in pricing of the 1st gen casings
cos thus far, mine is naked except for a SP (i refused to pay exorbitant amount for overpriced casings )

lol I feel maybe some present ipad users will buy when it reach sg.

They will feel the difference while holding it and test drive at the shop thus can't tahan and buy lol.

I can understand some people are like this.

Keep mention don't want not worth to upgrade to others yet ownself go to buy.

seriously I feel most buyer will be first time ipad users.According to apple survey.
They noticed 70 percent of the ipad2 users are first time buyer whereas 30 percent are ipad 1 users and upgrade it.

of course "some" buyers are been paid to buy .

thus this survey is jut a rough guide.
