I am wondering how to check if the ipad 2 is a brand new or refurished set. I bought my ipad sometimes back in earlier april... now I bought one online for my niece... the serial nos on the brand new set shown DLXGG while the set which i bought in april shown DQTFG... sound funny w the serial nos...anyway to check if they are pe-owned and due to minor problem like the screening yellowish or light bleeding in the earlier batch of the ipad 2... they had a service and stated as brand new.

Do u have any choice? once an Apple product is sick and has to be replaced, they will give you a replace, stated "New" but in actual fact its a refurbished set, with new parts and inspected before sending out. Thats how they do their servicing and yes they have different parts numbers than brand new products, they also resell lower to the second=hand dealers. As they also pick on the serial number and says its a refurbished set......but its as brand new as a new set, unless u can find a defect on it and get it replaced again. =P

just fyi,

even those hdd u get from shops at SLS or Funan are not all new built.
Some are rejects from major vendors eg Dell, HP..... or RMA hdd.
They just 'tear' it down & rebuilt it. Parts that are deem good will recycle for these hdd.

So long they are physically new & have warranty, no prob with me.
