u qn the logic of allowing itouch n not ipad. the reason they give is bcos ipad has a larger screen. then u'll ask y allow e-book reader then. the standard reply will be cos e-book doesn't hv computing function. u will then scratch head n asked yrself WTF? back to chicken vs egg again. ITS NOT THE DEVICE THAT'S DANGEROUS ITS THE PERSON BEHIND IT.

Just like how they can bypass the rules about mobile phones with cameras and actual cameras?

FYI, even eBook reader also not allow. Personal entertainment device with screen >4.3 inch is NOT allowed. This is the official stand.

I think not. They are aware that they need to role model. Besides, one phone call to MSD and retirement lump sum all gone.

forget it, its well known. the msd in mindef is known for its easiest solution out to a lot of gadgets. just ban them totally, instead of thinkin workard solutions. they are the biggest stumbling block to a more efficient govt sector. imagine a OA environment which one can only access in the office, where a VPN would simply do the trick. no one can work from home. so stupid.

Security is utmost concern. VPN isn't as secure as you believe it to be.

And they allow the usage of iPod touch in camps and bases???

Hmmm
in my camp, writable CDs thumb drive, psp on the basis that these can be used to store info. even
gps units barred. so those who has built
in gps in car need to park outside the camp
