Youtube App Loads Only Highest Quality Video

Hi, I believe this topic has been discussed before.. but I can't find any solution to it. It seems that Ipad Youtube app only load the highest resolution video available. Usually for shorter video I can still wait like a minute or 2 for it. For for a 10 mins video and the highest is HD, the total size is 200+MB and it can take forever to open the video! Is there anyway to overcome this? Or just have to use safari and turn off the HD option, that's the only way? Thanks for any advice.

Normally, if you are on EDGE/3G, YouTube.app will load the "viewable" quality. But once you are on wifi, it will automatically load the better quality.

UNLESS you have 3G Unrestrictor installed, and on YouTUbe.app in it.

go to Safari and type in youtube.com and you will be redirected to the mobile version, save the page to your springboard and you will be able to view in full resolution.

and don't forget to chose "HQ" version.

i guess so,then 3G unrestrictor won't work for TS at all because very strange thing is that TS wants the reverse of what most people wants.

Ha yes.. I wanted to close the HD feature because I'm using Ipad in a Wifi only environment, and the Youtube app only loads the highest resolution video, no option given. So every time if the video is HD, it basically is useless to me i.e. I have to wait for 10 minutes to watch a 10 minutes video. Don't have a very fast broadband that's the main problem I guess.. So in the end, I have to resolve to using Safari and turn off the HD option.

Was hoping that there is some way in the Youtube app itself that I can decide what kind of quality is needed.

Maybe Apple thought that if you can afford their iDevices, then you should be able to afford some good speed internet.

Today, there is still no one apple application that allows us to download YouTube videos onto iPad directly?

Or YourTubeHD if jailbroken. YourTubeHD is integrated into the YouTube.app itself, and you can add the downloaded video to your library.
