I am still using my 3-year+ old iPhone 6S and hope to use it at least for another year. But my Wife has moved from 6S+ to 7+ and then X. I liked the headphone jack but in reality the lightening to headphone jack adapter is okay, it does not seem to degrade the sound quality.

But my ear is so so, my best sounding headphone is only the Sony MDR-100AAP (good enough for me). I do not listen to high-res music either. Anyway those people will use a DAP or USB DAC or things like that...

But performance wise lags

Wireless is the future. Either you adopt it or you lag behind.

Yes that seems to be true. I use my Creative Bluetooth speakers more often to listen to music than my Sony headphone or my others ear phones.

No problem at all with the performance. Other than battery I have no complaints about my iPhone 6S. Also got a 6S+ backup phone with a non-working Touch ID.
