I scanned using my qr code on my android phone

My main access is in ipad though, and I used the in app method to buy one month which ios says successful but yk doesn't register it

Did you try it on your Android phone first? Did you see the VIP status under your Android phone? You can also try to log in using a PC to see if that works.

As an experiment, I just installed Youku HD (tablet version) on my iPad 2018 (for kids so I do not use it) and then loged in using my Android phone to scan the QR code, and it worked well. The iPad recognized my VIP status.

It doesn't say vip on both android and iOS

But confirm billed cos I got the receipt lol

I think I have to write in for refund

Tips welcomed!! šŸ˜Š

Here's a screen of what it says

It says my account (the second account in one of the screen) is upgraded but still cannot watch as it still prompt me to upgrade

https://ibb.co/tXHpQ6v
https://ibb.co/djQ9B3K
https://ibb.co/RHHFjk1

Any ideas :)

Hmm, no idea then.

You may want to check with Youku to see what happened.

Anyway, how did you buy your VIP?

If you buy from iPhone, try on the same iPhone first to see if it works. Then try on your iPad.

If you buy from Android phone, try on the same Android phone first. Then try on your iPad.

BTW, there are two versions of Youku under iOS, one for iPhone and the other for iPad (Youku HD).

I have tried both paying from my iPhone and my Android phone and both worked for me. But I have not tried paying from iPad.

Good news, now you can use Alipay without a China bank card to pay for Youku VIP or things like that.

Ref:

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/china-316/wechat-wallet-5708797-46.html

In Alipay app home screen, search for Your Pass and from there follow the instructions.

Wah finally! Thanks bro for the information! If there is a vote for the best member for Chinese entertainment, TV boxes, payment and etc, you will be the MVP!

Just an update for iQiyi ēˆ±å„‡č‰ŗļ¼Œpreviously I was using the China version on my Android phone which require VPN. Now I notice the new international version (for mobile phone and tablet) is available from Google Play Store and Apple iOS App Store, (said to start since June 2019).

You can register using email address. And you can access quite some ads-supported contents without using VPN, up to 720p. VIP subscription is available from in-app purchase. The price is not cheap though. Gold VIP (mobile phone and iPad) is at S$9 per month and Diamond VIP (TV) is at S$13 per month. First month trial is free.

It is said that iQiyi got cooperation with Astro in Malaysia and they may get more contents, including iQiyi on Astro TV platform.

Based on my testing, the TV version of iQiyi app é“¶ę²³å„‡å¼‚ęžœdoes not work with this international type of account. So no point to pay for the Diamond VIP. Gold VIP is enough (up to 1080p, no ads).

Take note you can use the Androud phone version in generic Android TV boxes (just download from Play Store and register using a Singapore phone number). Without paying you will get up to 720p and ads. With paying you get up to 1080p.

MGTV (Mango TV international version) is another choice for iPhone/iPad and Android phones, no VPN is needed as this is the international version. You can use the Android phone version under generic Android TV box as well. There is a version for official Android TV OS device like Mi Box S and Nvidia Shield TV.

In-app purchase for iOS or Android (Google Play)
S$5.98 monthly
S$14.98 per quarter
S$42.98 annual
Some contents may need separate purchase at S$1.48/S$2.98/S$5.98.

WeTV is under Tencent and it was launched in Thailand.

It seems to me you can use it here in Singapore as well without VPN. App is available from Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You can register using Singapore phone number and then check if the contents are good enough or not. The Android phone version also works under generic Android TV box.

VIP is not cheap either since the promotion yearly price is at S$77. Since I am not so sure if it is officially supported here or not, it is not recommended to buy yearly. They do have promotion price for first month or first three month as well which is pretty cheap (but thereafter the price is not cheap).

One official new app from CCTV in China, å¤®č§†é¢‘. Got CCTV 5 and 5+ for live sports and other China live TV channels. No need VPN now.

It also has some 4k contents.

Mobile app is available for both iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (download from website).

For Android TV OS, you can use apps like 超ēŗ§ē›“꒭ļ¼Œē”µč§†å®¶ļ¼ŒåŽę–‡ē”µč§†ļ¼Œetc.

The following two Chinese live TV apps have iOS app from the Apple app store and Android phone/TV version from website.
ē”µč§†å®¶3.0ļ¼šhttp://www.idianshijia.com/
åŽę–‡ē”µč§†ļ¼š http://www.5itv.tv/hwtv.php

There are many other apps as well for Android TV boxes like HDPē›“꒭ļ¼Œå°č–‡ē›“꒭ļ¼Œetc.

As for tvOS, I have no idea since I only have the old 3rd gen Apple TV (seldom used) and have no intention to upgrade to newer version of Apple TV.

One of the good China VPN is ēˆ±åŠ é€Ÿ. The server numbers seem to be higher than Transocks and SpeedIn.

Now you need to pay though. Free account is only for limited servers and 20 minutes session.

Web sites:

Paying through Apple is more expensive.

Paying through Wechat Pay or Alipay is cheaper.

Hi, can any one share any new free movie app for iPhone mostly for Chinese drama and TVB. Tyvm.

Try the apps mentioned above, WeTV, iQiyi and Huawen TV Pro (åŽę–‡ē”µč§†Pro), no VPN required.

Youku has quite some TVB contents but you may need to pay for VIP. Once you pay, then no need VPN for many contents.

TeaTV is not really for Chinese Entertainment lah. Anyway, it is better not to discuss "gray area apps" in this forum.
