Nothing to do with Appleís leather case. Iíve a space grey X bought since second day of launch and a gold XS Max bought since early November last year. Both from day one are placed in Appleís saddle brown leather case and up to now the bottom part is still as good as new.
Hmm, itís the oil from our hands thatís causing the stain.
So I guess I should be avoiding bottom exposed cases to avoid stains like these on the bands of my phone.

Guess youíre not affected cause maybe your fingers do not excrete as much oil?

It's simply... oily finger. Mine happens at the mute button. Not very obvious but in some light condition can see the effect.

I guess he is referring to the fact that the Apple leather case exposes the bottom part of the phone so when we rest our pinkie there, there is a chance that it will cause the phone to decolourise. This is what happened to my phone too. But I am not bothered by it.

Apple leather case still gives me the best feel and is slim enough to be used with the xs mAx.
I'd still get the leather case when iPhone 11 is out later this year. If you take good care of it, the bottom part will not get scratched or de-colour after some time of usage.

Taking good care and how you handle your phone is diff. Condition of each person hand is diff also.

Some people use their finger to support the bottom of the phone, some don't.

Yeap, the de-colourization is not due to lack of proper care or misuse. It's due to the natural oil excretion from our skin, which is beyond our control.

You could be lucky(or unfortunate) to have lesser oil excretion(dry hands), and not have this oil stain problem.

The best way to combat and lessen the occurrence of this problem, is to clean the bottom frequently.

Sadly I’m also a victim of the discolouration and also a fan of the Apple leather Case. To make things worse I rarely clean my iPhone lolol

Can try to clean as I clean mine daily to ensure it's in tip-top condition.

Im using a spigen all round protection. Only accessible part is the mute switch, which i use on and off. And maybe i snack and touch the mute button, now there is slight discoloring. It was worse, but i use a eraser and it is better now.

anyone where to get camera lens film/protector for XS MAX in sg?
The Rock 6D 0.15mm Camera Lens Tempered Glass Protector for iPhone XR would be great for your situation. Just check if its available on Amazon. It is one of the greatest.
