VISA TO JOIN APPLE PAY BANDWAGON

Visa also announced on Tuesday that Apple Pay will be made available to local cardholders soon.

In a statement, the credit card company noted that Singaporeans have embraced contactless payments, with more than one in three Visa transactions being conducted via Visa payWave, instead of cash.

"Contactless payments and ‘going cashless’ are becoming a part of everyday life, as more consumers and retailers realise that contactless brings greater convenience and faster checkouts for busy people on the go," Ooi Huey Tyng, Visa Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei, said.

"We’re confident the introduction of Apple Pay will be welcomed by all Singaporeans and we look forward to working with our clients to support this technology."

OK I went to NTUC during the lunch time, staff were aware that today is the first day of Apple Pay in SG but they didn't seem to be familiar how to enable Apple Pay, took them quite some time to figure out how to enable it from their end, once it is settled, the rest is pretty smooth, hold phone close to the terminal, finger touch and done, in 2 seconds.

BTW, I am wondering if an existing payWave terminal should accept Apple Pay already? VISA payWave and Apple Pay both mentioned the same "payWave" symbol on the terminal where their contactless service can be used on.

If let say we have multiple cards inside the Apple wallet when it establish the communication with the retail terminal, we can swipe what card to use and then press the TouchID to pay?

When more cards is supported, as some of our credit card/debit card support "EZ-Link" with Auto Top-up/reload feature for transportation, i don't know can we use it to tap at bus or MRT system since it also using NFC. That will be swag!

yes of course

Pay with a different card instead of your default card

To switch cards on your iPhone, hold your device near the reader without resting your finger on Touch ID. When your default card appears, tap it, then tap the one that you want to use. Rest your finger on Touch ID to pay.
