Praying for Brains Apple - iOS 13.3.2 on iPhone 8 Plus

Upgraded my dad's iPhone 8 plus to Xr at the store. Wanted to trade in but guess what? It is not possible to restore the back up because 8 plus is on 13.3.2 and all the other X series are on 13.3.1. Called apple support and they asked to wait until 13.3.2 rolls out (no ETA yet) then to restore from the cloud.

Did Apple not think of such a scenario before they rolled out this update? Apple support said it received a number of queries but they can't do anything at the moment.

I'm praying hard that God will give more brains to the people at Apple. 🙄🙄😜😉

Just be aware people if you're upgrading from 8 plus to Xr or higher at the moment.

This doesn’t happen on iOS 13 only. It does happen in iOS 12 too

Yes. This is a good alternative too.

And the 12.4 beta can be considered as a stable beta release.

If you do not wish to install the beta, you can edit the plist found in the iPhone 8 Plus backup folder. Change the iOS version from iOS 12.3.2 to iOS 12.3.1 and proceed to restore from your iPhone XS Max.

E.g.

<key>Product Type</key>
<string>iPhoner10,5</string>
<key>Product Version</key>
<string>12.3.2</string>
<key>Serial Number</key>
<string>XXX</string>

Just change the 2 to 1 highlighted in bold and save the plist.
