Anyone just came back from Tokyo can advise what clothes to bring? I'm seeing a vast difference in temperature online from a high of 28 to low of 13 degrees Celsius. Would I need cardigan or jkt? How's the humidity?

when are u travelling?

weather is very unpredicable this year. summer came late and was super hot. but temperature dropped suddenly last few days from wat i heard.

so i think it is better to bring a jacket, just in case. or buy from there is really need.

the weather is pretty crazy...

I went in mid June
pretty cooling in Osaka, Tokyo but Kyoto was supreme hot.

best bet is to check the current week forecast and adjust accordingly...

Japan's meteorological services quite accurate one

How to go about taking the Shinkansen train just for the experience?

Just want to try the experience, don't need to travel too far?

Where/which station can I go to from Shinjuku?

Thanks

How long you need the experience to be?
U can take from Tokyo to Shinagawa or Shin-Yokohama
Tokyo->Shin Yokohama (18mins only)

You can also take from Tokyo to Nikko (one portion of the journey will be on Shinkansen).

Then u can go Nikko for day trip

i think he meant that it is not worth it coz not the entire trip is covered by the pass. it is also a hassle to change so many trains in order to maximise the usage of the pass.

it may be much easier not to get any pass, and enjoy the flexibility and not be constrained by the train lines u can take. but that will depend on ur itinerary.

maybe u can start a thread with ur full itinerary? easier for us to comment and keep track of wat is going on. coz too many ppl asking different things... getting confusing.
hi, i will start a thread once i got my full itinerary planned out. going on last day of next month.

like to ask if ICOCA & HARUKA similar to our mrt card? but can only use in kansai area? mean i can't use it once i go tokyo?
thanks

yes, icoca is like an ezlink card and is for kansai only. for tokyo, u need to get suica. since there isnt any discount (unless u are getting icoca and haraku package, or NEX and suica package), u can just buy single trip tickets instead. single trip ticket is just more troublesome coz need to queue and buy tickets, and need to purchase the correct fare ticket.
