Which transport to take from Kansai international airport to Osaka?
Data plan wise, which one to choose?

Use luggage forwarding aka TaQbin. Not sure if you’re using hotels or Airbnb. I forwarded mine from Kanazawa to Nagoya when I was traveling to onsen towns and then to Alpine Route for 4N. Informed the hotel concierge the date I was checking into Nagoya hotel. Brought a backpack for those 5D.
Ok so if I use airbnb then cannot transport the baggage ah?

Another plan I am considering is:
Day 1 arrive Osaka 6+am
Day 2 leave luggage in hotel, towards Toyama, explore and stay 1 night
Day 3 Alpine route, back to Osaka at night
Day 4 Osaka to kyoto stay 1 night
Day 5 Kyoto and back to Osaka at night
Day 6 stay in osaka, late flight back

Is this more workable? Can just leave luggage w hotel while I do alpine route. Then I no need to purchase the rail pass also since I don't think is worth it anymore....

Depends on your choice and budget.

I have no experience in AirBnB, but you could still use TaQbin. Just go to any of the convenience stores which provides TaQbin services.

Day 2 leave luggage in hotel, towards Toyama, explore and stay 1 night
Day 3 Alpine route, back to Osaka at night
Day 4 Osaka to kyoto stay 1 night
Just stay in Osaka. Too much back and forth, need to check in and out of lodging so many times. It's only 30-40min from Osaka to Kyoto.
Day 5 Kyoto and back to Osaka at night
Day 6 stay in osaka, late flight back

Is this more workable? Can just leave luggage w hotel while I do alpine route. Then I no need to purchase the rail pass also since I don't think is worth it anymore....
Better check with Hyperdia.com to see if you need a pass to do your alternative plan. Shinano-Omachi to Osaka takes at least 4.5hrs. It's not cheap to do the Alpine Route too. There's a promotion for JR Pass holders to buy the Alpine Route option ticket at a discount.

It's your decision to see which plan fits you best. For me, I would not want to rush through the whole trip.

Ok ya i realized is not ex from osaka to Kyoto and is less than 1 hr so I should just stay at one place instead of moving around.

the attitude Japanese have towards their neighbors is shaped by their education and their history

They are ingrained with the idea that they are a superior race compared to Korea and China. Not surprisingly since historically, Japan industrialized before the other traditional major Asian powers.

The impression of Koreans and Chinese nationals in Japan tend to be a little negative. Mostly they see them as loud and unrefined. There are fair number of ethnic Korean entertainers in Japan. Masayohsi Son who is regarded as the richest man in Japan is of Korean decent.

Hi - my family is planning a trip as follows:

Day 1 Arrive Narita 6pm head off to Shinjuku overnight

Day 2 Travel to Hakone overnight Lake Ashe

Day 4 Travel back to Tokyo for 4 nights (Stay near Shinjuku)

Day 8 Travel to Karuizawa Ski

Day 10 Karuizawa to Haneda Airport

Can please advise what's the best deal for Train rides considering it's 10 days from starting at Narita airport and ending in Haneda (JR Pass / Hakone Express etc)?

Thank you very much.

You more or less have to use the Hakone 2 Day Pass. It is a private line anyway. So JR Pass or not it does nothing for you

the parts in Tokyo till you go back will be a bit complicated.

17k for a 5 day (within 14 days) pass might be too much. Right now you are clocking in under 12k

if you want to make it worth, you need to do another shinkansen trip and that might just clock in enough for the pass but might not make it worth it

Hakone Pass. Last 3 days use Tokyo Wide Pass.

Does anyone have any advice on what footwear when going to Hokkaido during winter period (e.g. Dec - Jan)?

Would I be pushing it if I wore sneakers and bought the spikes for walking on ice, or should I definitely get snow boots? Thanks!
