Did they ask to go?

They would need to know the process also. There videos on YouTube in that.
for private baths in ryokan, any recommendation?
I also understand alot of ryokan don welcome kids..
I would like them to be able to experience their culture. however, they are typical boisterious boys...

Isn't Nara and Himeiji rather far apart and they are on opposite sides of Osaka too ie you do one then have to go thru Osaka to get to the other...

actually there are family oriented places

http://www.hgp.co.jp/language/english/karuizawa.html

this one is a hotel with a children themepark near by, I stayed up there during Autumn in 2016. 2 blokes in a family resort hotel. I am sure there are more of these around.

lots of ryokan offer attached or family onsen rooms.

What is your travel period?

Sat
kiyozumi dera
Nishiki market
Fushiminari

I dunno about your preference but kiyomizu dera and then Nishiki will most likely eat up all the daylight. Fushimi inari is on the south side of Kyoto. You will need to get back to Kyoto station and then proceed to the south side.

Tue
Arashiyama
Kinakuji

You can't get across Kyoto in the time that will allow you to have fun and explore both places especially Arashiyama nicely. You are doing Free n Easy because you do not want the tour bus experience of touch n go.

my advice, make a choice. Which place you really want to see in the season you are there? You can't catch em all. Plus like I always say "there is always next time". I have been to Kyoto quite a few times and I can still come up with something I have not done before. Japan is basically my permanent holiday destination

Planing for Osaka and Kyoto in Oct 18, Osaka airport is nearest right ? I want to book air ticket at first and hotel later.. Any recommendation to stay where , I have always thought to stay at Osaka only and Kyoto to travel by days only..

Please advise me if I miss out some fun here.

Depends on where you want to visit and the season. I stayed in Takayama for 4 nights during the festival period. Shirakawa-go was a stopover on the way to Kanazawa.

Thx for the reply. Planning june period.

Would 3 days takayama + 1 day trip shirawakago be enuff?

Actually planning approx 15d

Osaka, kyoto, nara day trip, takayama, shirawakago daytrip, tokyo.

Is it possible to add tateyama alpine route after takayama? Then head to tokyo.

Quite a big group 8-10pax and w elderly. Hows the alpine route for elderly?

Open to suggestions. Ty!

15 days for the places u have listed already feels quite rush, typically osaka kyoto and tokyo would be enuf to occupy 15 days.

Alpine route consists of multiple transportation, so need to get on and off bus, train and cable car. And there is a part that need walking, from one end of kurobe dam to the other. But it is flat ground, and quite short distance

they do have lifts and escalators but might be a bit of a corner and stuff

the metro stations that are smaller might be a bit iffy for lifts but the major stations should be alright
