wow tempting....

Well... I bit the bullet, ordered from Qoo10 and pleased to find the price has dropped to 766 with the dual screen. The seller is left with last set now so if you wanna get then don't wait.

Is it better than the iPhone?
To be honest, I'm not sure. if i use Android, I'm with Android and I will know mostly only Android.
I think iPhone have the advantage in terms of their apps being optimized for their hardware, so even my mother's old iPhone 6S Plus is fast and smooth. My GF is using the iPhone X and its still smooth.

But the V50 with the snapdragon 855 have been really good for me, app install and loading is fast, connection have been stable and reliable, camera has been very reliable in most situations, its more fun to use than my previous Note 8. I haven't found a situation where I feel like omg, i wish i use an iphone, in fact my gf finds my V50 more interesting than her iPhone X :)

The dual screen is a great accessory, i have been using it to open 2 apps, open 2 instances of chrome, document comparison, grab and gojek fare comparison. Been using it laptop style by making one entire screen the keyboard. I do wish LG allows for more control over the dual screen though, because they have something called wide mode which spreads over the dual screen but only works with chrome so far, would be nice to make it work with adobe PDF, MS Office or Google Docs. Some apps allow 2 instances, some don't.

In its current state, its still very useful to me but there is a lot more hidden potential that can be done if LG decides to allow user to have full control.
It would be great if they could follow the Axon M implementation.

Its also quite a wasted potential that they do not add in a oled screen in front for quick glance notifications. Not a problem for me as i use a Android Wear watch, but maybe a problem for others.

Btw, LG just announced the new G8X(V50S) which have a dual screen accessory too, you may want to have a look at it. It uses a new updated dual screen accessory with slightly bigger screen and an additional oled panel in front. However, seems that it uses a new usb c to connect the phone to the dual screen now instead of the pogo pins, the charging portion seems to be now a special connector instead of USB C?

Link

But for some reason they decided to butcher the cameras though, taking out the telephoto and now the selfie cam become 1 cam(even if its 32mp) and fixed focus? Seriously? 2019 flagship?

On the other hand, makes me even happier with my V50 currently:s13:

the X usually is a lower spec of the original if i remember correctly
i'm also tempted to get v50 for my mum cos she only likes LG phones
she is currently using G6 which is still good for now
yeah damn SG is hard to find a place that still sells LG phones

technolust 09-09-2019 11:20 AM

Have you tried the usual street shops? They might import. Actually for the price differential it's more worth it to get a Korean export set . I thik they are sellers on Lazada and the usual online platforms

Unplugged at 10.45am, reached home at 11pm with 55% left, mixed use of dual screen, gaming, video, music, web surfing, 50% brightness and connected to my zenwatch 3.

Screen on time on average for me about 5 to 6 hours, with mixed use of dual screen, about 4.5 hrs.

Not exactly battery king but makes me confident enough not to bring a spare batt along.

I used the V20 and used a Powerbear battery with it, lasted me for 2 whole days. Loved it until it decided to die on me in Japan.:(
After that i used other phones but didn't have the same awesome feeling again.

The V50 with dual screen is once again something truly special.
